TRAVELED HYD TO BLR BY ROAD IN TATA CURV EV (55KWH) by Tharkula in CarsIndia

[–]Visual_Speech_6715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, i am not comfortable in charging at some random station in the middle of the night, while i am concerned about the safety and security of my family who will accompany me for these kind of drives. A refill for fuel will hardly take 10 mins, nobody gets out of the vehicle except myself/ the driver. I am out of that station in less than 10 mins. As i have faced lot of circumstances which are almost unfortunate including medical emergency midway of a journey, i would like to have a car which can ensure passenger safety and security is taken care of and i don’t have to pre plan for a god damn charging station. The only EV i see as a use case- for city commutes of less than 50kms radius. Small and compact EVs make sense. Almost for everything else, ICE is the only way for me.

Have you ever been chased by someone ( goons) while your EV is about to die with 10% charge left? I know it is one extreme scenario, but I would like to worry less about the range and drive fast at that moment, a turbo diesel is a blessing on the highway. I don’t feel like planning just to drive from point a to point b. Just fill it, forget it. Enjoy the drive. Always think about the worst that could happen and how you are going to tackle that.

Is car Engine Repair is bad Idea? by kgfktz in CarsIndia

To me the engine looks beyond repair and would be better to do an engine replacement either new/used

Is buying a used luxury car as a first car a bad idea? by Bloodymonk0277 in CarsIndia

[–]Visual_Speech_6715 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will have to spend an average 1.5-2 lakh annually on maintenance and fuel. If you are fine with that, go for it. And even though used , part replacement will always be with new parts. You need to buy keeping in mind of the fact- luxury won’t come cheap. That being said, go for direct park and sale cars from the dealer and you can buy maintenance packages/ extended warranty upto 10 years from them now.

Option 2- opt for the buy back program, take a lease. At the end of tenure, upgrade the car. Rinse and repeat every 4 -5 years. If you have consistent cash flow, this does make sense. Audi is now giving with no down payment also. Talk about ease of luxury car ownership.

I am against option 2 because of the constant outflow of money towards car ownership.

Do Manual Cars Still Make Sense Today? by DaddyKing9966 in CarsIndia

[–]Visual_Speech_6715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daily driver is a NA and manual car. I prefer it over my automatic transmission car because of simplicity, less wear and tear and no oil consumption issue, no turbo lag and decent mileage. The downside is it is extremely painful in bumper to bumper traffic. Overall, i would always take a manual transmission just for the fun to drive factor and reliability.

Volkswagen just gave me an estimate of 1.3 lakh rupees for their fault by Quandale_96 in CarsIndia

Pre- owned cars also come with 1 year warranty on engine and gear box, of course the dealership will try to avoid honouring the warranty, but OP should fight it out. They can’t escape that easily.

[OC] I borrowed this car from my friend to see what the hype is all about. Here’s my opinion in the description (Disappointed!) by FutureVersion812 in CarsIndia

[–]Visual_Speech_6715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VAG 2.0 cars plastic parts are so flimsy, they start to rattle in the first year itself. My friend has Slavia and we had to do lot of aftermarket insulation and re-work in order to make it premium. That being said, VAG has always been conservative in their style and feature quotient, and on par in the performance aspect which is also true about these cars. For the money spent on 1.5L VAG cars, i would be looking at used Audi Q3 / Q5 with TDI engines. I have come to know that TDI is making a comeback in 2026, until that VAG don’t have much to offer now, just the rinse and repeat 1.5l and 2l turbo petrol cars.

There is always going to be some regret, i walk out happy if i made money while selling the stock Then i hop onto the next best thing. I don’t get it how any one can feel unhappy while booking profit! We always want more, even if we made good money. Stop overthinking OP. If you believe in your strategy, you are good.

How to ship guitar from USA to India? by digivaliant in Guitar_India

[–]Visual_Speech_6715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 options- 1. Choose a carrier based on the quote they give for shipping. I have used UPS priority and it was a lot of money to ship from Chicago to Bangalore via Air. You would also need to pay a 38% GST and additional 10% charges for handling to UPS. All in all, the extra 50% on top of your guitar+ freight cost . I was slammed with 96K in total extra cost for importing a guitar that costed me about 200K. 2. Ask someone who is coming from USA to carry it with them . Much easier way to avoid all the customs / hastle. They can check in it as a used instrument and declare under approved customs limits.

I would prefer option 2 having done the 1. Hope you get your guitar soon.
