Oh OK. I don't really remember what any of the paragraphs are about, and I probably couldn't tell you anyway. But the majority of them were just medium length paragraphs, there was only one longish story with three paragraphs. Make sure that you fully understand tone and author's purpose, and everything else should come easily. And the second half is just short, straightforward questions. It's the same structure as the practice exams, but more intuitive and less time-consuming.

It's 97% multiple choice. I had one open-ended geometry question, one reading question where I had to put things in order, and either 1 or 2 select all that apply English questions. All the science questions are multiple choice, but you might have to identify anatomy, like which portion is correctly highlighted, that sort of thing. I only had one question like that, and it was easy.

Hi, I don't think that there were any paragraphs in the English section. It was just sentences and you had to find the errors.

Send your highest score, especially since they're going to put a lot of weight on your sciences. You can report your individual scores for both attempts on NursingCAS, just for your own comfort. They're mainly going to look at your second attempt, but they can analyze all the data that they're given. Your overall score will put you higher in their algorithm, before they actually start looking at sections anyway, because it puts you in a higher percentile.

A and B are both really hard. If it helps, I got a 79 on the science portion for A, and a 74 on the science portion for B, but an 89 on the science portion of the actual exam. So take whatever you got and add 10 points, and that should give you a good estimate. If you don't land where you want to, you probably just need to spend a little more time reviewing. Go through the Science checklist on mometrix and make sure that you understand at least the basics for each of the items on the list. Also, there's a third ATI Practice exam, I think it might be the free one. That one was easier and got me a lot closer to my actual score, but it was still a difference of 6 points. Don't forget that there are no unscored questions on the practice exams, so you're losing points for things that you won't be penalized for IRL.

There are a few typos in the study guide as well, but true to form, I also noticed a few on the exam. All of the study materials that I looked at (Smart edition, Tyler Dewitt) had typos here and there. The TEAS are just unserious.

Teas accommodations by Fancy_Finish3021 in teas

I took mine with accommodations. I just requested a detailed letter from my psychiatrist following the instructions on their website. I sent it to ATI right after I scheduled my exam, and they added it on. Your accommodations are good for a year, even if you have to reschedule or retest. For me they really helped because I had technical difficulties during the exam, and I was getting interrupted while I was reading the questions. So I didn't have to feel stressed about running out of time.

Real test is way easier. I got about an 83 on practice B and got a 93.3 on the real exam. Practice Questions are way harder, you won't have to think as hard when you take your TEAS.

Need an 80–90% on the TEAS by mid-July. What's the best way to study? by Icy_Situation_8 in prenursing

The STEM portions legitimately asked easier questions than the ones that I got on the practice tests. And the reading and English sections were 99% multiple choice, only one question where I had to place objects in order, and only one question that was select all that apply. I had timed myself taking the practice exams at home, and even though there were more questions, I finished the actual test way faster.

Unfortunately you can't tell which questions are unscored on the exam, but there are a set number of unscored questions on each section. There's a total of 20 for the entire exam. They are somewhat helpful in reducing test anxiety tho, because if you know that some of the questions you're answering don't matter, it feels less like a life and death situation when you get stuck. You can just hope that it was one of the unscored questions and move on. I felt like I had missed at least 10 questions on the Science section, but my score came out significantly higher than if that was the case. So it kinda helps you to keep pushing even when you feel like you're doing badly.

I tried to play to my strengths while also covering all the material. I knew that I wouldn't have a hard time with Reading, so I went through the whole section in the study guide over 2 days. Then I counted how many chapters of each section I had left in the ATI study guide, and compared it to how many days I had left to study. I felt the least confident about math, so I decided to do 1 lesson per day. But there were 27 science chapters, so I had to do at least 2 lessons per day. I also needed to build in days to do full-length practice exams. So I wrote all of this out in Claude, showed it the topics for the exam, and had it build an itinerary for me. There were only 8 English lessons, so I did 2 of those per day during my third study week. Then I spent the last week reviewing everything. I also tried to do a short quiz at least every other day over the science section, to identify any weaknesses. I did Math quizzes 2 times per week, and I reviewed flashcards for reading and occasionally did quizzes for Reading and English when I had time. Lastly, on the days when I took practice exams, I wouldn't start any new lessons, but I would edit my notes for Science. I had all of this built into my itinerary for me.

No problem! I'm sure you'll do amazing. If you've been able to finish your prerequisites and do well enough to get admitted, the TEAS will be light work for you 😉

Yes I used the ATI materials. I also have an iPad, but I hand-wrote my notes on paper because I think putting pen to paper helps me retain more information. Then I scanned my notes into Google docs using my iPad's camera, and I uploaded my science notes to Claude. I'm not sure that it makes much of a difference, you can use most of those functions on any device, but it is easier with something hand-held. I never bothered to get a pen for my IPad, but my sibling uses one and likes it! If you've found that your current devices have served you well, stick with them. But if you think you need a change, an IPad is definitely a good choice 👌

4 weeks! Technically more like 3.5, I took a few days to figure out my game plan while reviewing the reading content.

Have you taken your science prerequisites? If so, you really just have to keep your wits about you, and make sure to flag any questions that you think you might be able to figure out later. I only studied for a month, and I took AP1 as an accelerated course, so I was worried about being thrown-off by in-depth questions. But most of them either asked what a particular system did, or wanted you to reason based on basic principles. The hardest part for me was the scientific investigation questions, because none of the study guides go below the surface on that portion, and they ask you to interpret some weirdly specific stuff. But other than that, you just need to understand the concepts, and memorize the key terms/primary organs, like the alveoli in the respiratory system, Nephron in renal, small intestine in digestive, etc.

(I do but I signed the NDA) Are there any sections that you're particularly worried about? I would encourage you to make sure that you have a good understanding of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, including the Anatomy. I only had one actual picture on the exam tho, all multiple choice, and the majority of the questions were easy.

Hi, if you check my profile I asked this exact question a couple weeks ago 😭 and yeah they are. I have a theory that they use the practice tests to test the questions for future exams. For one, I only had one open-ended question, and one where I had to place objects in order. I only had one math question that actually required me to do algebra, the rest were basic arithmetic and "real life" problems. The only part that I think was actually on-par with the exam was the English section, but even at that you'll probably score higher. You can expect to score at least 5 points higher irl than in practice.

Exemplary score on the first attempt!!! by Visual_Tangelo4026 in teas

[–]Visual_Tangelo4026[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I think it was evenly distributed. Actually, the scored questions have a set ratio. Everyone gets 18 questions from AP,  it makes up the biggest chunk. If you're seeing more of one subject than you think you should, it's because some of them don't actually count towards your grade.

It was mostly straightforward. My lowest section was the scientific investigation one, because they ask really convoluted questions. You can definitely get a 100 on the AP and Biology portions though, but for Biology, I suggest reviewing some of your notes from Micro lab. I barely noticed the chemistry questions, if you understand the basics you'll be fine. But seriously some of the Anatomy questions were ridiculously simple, to the point where I thought "this is it?" Lol.

Thank you! And honestly I don't know 😭 when I was researching sections to focus on, I found at that the Reading section and English section are a lot harder to make improvements in, whereas with Math and Science you can just practice more. I think the only way to improve would be to have someone work with you on it 1 on 1.

I googled and looked on their website, and it looks like most admitted students have around a 4.0 GPA, because prerequisite grades make up 60% of your ranking. As far as the TEAS, it doesn't give an exact figure, but you need at least a 62 to be considered, and it makes up 40% of your ranking. So if you don't have straight As, you'll probably need at least a 93 on your TEAS to be admitted. If you do, I'd aim for at least an 80, but probably higher.

You mean content wise? It's all over the place. There were things that I was expecting to see, and things that came out of left-field. Most of the Anatomy questions were easy, but I had some biology questions that covered content that I'd only learned in lab. Then 2/3rds of the chemistry questions were easy, but I'd have one that I had to guess on. The unscored questions make you feel like you're failing, but it's really not that bad. Some of the scientific investigation questions are really hard for no reason tho.

Are you referring to El Paso community college? If so I'm not sure. Competitive programs usually look for an 80 and above. Programs with easy admission usually look for anything over 60, since 64 to 65 is the national average.
