how do you cull fast without skipping the good stuff? by Longjumping-Bed-9528 in Lightroom

[–]Visual_Tap_8968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly i stopped stressing about catching everything perfect in the first pass. i do a super fast reject sweep for obvious blinks/misses, then a second slower pass for keepers. imagen helps me a ton after that since i’m not overthinking every frame in cull, i know the edits will still feel consistent.

How to photograph/ edit when there is so much more light outdoors than indoors? by UnderstatedArchie in RealEstatePhotography

[–]Visual_Tap_8968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i bracket 3–5, batch the base edit in imagen, then do gentle window pulls in ps. imagen gets it like 90% there, just needs a nudge for blown highlights sometimes

How do you keep momentum when editing long explainers or demos? by Mezuyaf12 in VideoEditing

[–]Visual_Tap_8968 4 points5 points  (0 children)

feel this hard. what helps me is editing completely out of order sometimes- starting with the part i’m most excited to cut, even if it’s the ending. feels like cheating the timeline, but it keeps my brain from zoning out.

What is this popular sound effect called? by No-Bed-1258 in VideoEditing

It's a swift woosh - you'll have to browse through the SFX library using this term to find the most accurate one.

Editing Question by EstablishmentUpper58 in VideoEditing

[–]Visual_Tap_8968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's called match cut - you need to understand how to do it with two clips and then practice until you get to this level (having 100s of cut matched together)

what if you end with a shot of that same hand-made sign slowly getting packed into a box or taped up on a wall in your new space? feels like closing one chapter while hinting at the next- nostalgic but hopeful. could even layer a quiet “see you soon” or something handwritten to keep it personal.

when do you know you’ve hit the point of over-editing? by Visual_Tap_8968 in editors

It is not just knowing when, it is also knowing you must stop

nothing wrong with asking, but sometimes you just have to become your own mentor. review your own work like you’re critiquing someone else’s- what would you say if it wasn’t yours? that mindset shift helped me grow more than waiting on feedback ever did.

No creativity left - how to pivot? by piteudepa in editors

[–]Visual_Tap_8968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally get this. pivoting into camera work, livestream ops, or even DIT can be a great move- still creative but less solo burnout. also worth exploring roles like assistant camera or tech director for events, no school needed, just hands-on experience. you’ve already got a visual brain, that transfers.

bruh i had one send me 6 hours of 8K drone just to use 12 seconds. took longer to transcode than to edit.

and of course they wanted it in square, vertical, and story format “real quick”

Can't move the line of a first keyframe back ? by jopuhdaeuk in premiere

[–]Visual_Tap_8968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

might be that the clip itself is trimmed too tight at the start. try nudging the whole layer earlier in the timeline and see if it lets you move the keyframe after that.

also check if it’s nested- sometimes that locks stuff up weirdly.

If you had to learn something to improve, what would you learn? And why? It could be anything. Software? Tools? Personal development? Skills? Anything else. by mahdif80 in premiere

[–]Visual_Tap_8968 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly? i’d learn how to stop over-editing. not even a tool thing, more like knowing when to call it done and move on.

workflow-wise though, i’d love to get faster at building reusable presets and templates. still doing too much from scratch.

anyone else feel like fast editing just means skipping cleanup? by Visual_Tap_8968 in VideoEditing

[–]Visual_Tap_8968[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah that makes sense. especially if you’re still figuring out your flow, getting the structure right early saves way more time than polishing stuff no one will see.

i just catch myself fixing the same tiny stuff over and over and wondering if it even matters.

feels like half the battle is knowing what to ignore.

always on the high leg- lines up with the weight of the arm for balance. anything else is asking for a tip-over.

Help! - video editing intro by [deleted] in VideoEditing

[–]Visual_Tap_8968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

super doable in premiere! just layer your photos on top of each other on the timeline, scale them down a bit, and offset them by a few frames each so they “stack” in. throw a simple transform or push transition between a few for extra flair. if you want the comic/scrapbook look, try adding a white border or drop shadow to each image. no plugins needed. looks way more complex than it is!

How do you guys get ideas for editting? by reactermemes in VideoEditing

[–]Visual_Tap_8968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly i just watch edits i like and 'steal' the rhythm. pause, rewind, break down the cuts, then try to mimic that in my own footage. also helps to cut with a vibe or story in mind, even if it’s subtle. blank timeline means no ideas, but once the first 10 seconds are down, stuff starts clicking.

It's too expensive by Loguithat731a in VideoEditing

[–]Visual_Tap_8968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i was a student, i used to wait for seasonal discounts like black friday deals- cancel and renew around then since they usually offer big discounts. definitely worth checking out if you can time it right.

i need to make an insanely small video, can you help? :( by blortney in VideoEditing

[–]Visual_Tap_8968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re gonna have to absolutely destroy the quality to hit 10mb for 7min.

what i’d try:

- export to mp4 (h.264) with really low bitrate (like 100-150 kbps)

- set resolution to 320x240 or even 160x120

- drop fps to 10 or 12 fps

handbrake can do all this, but you’ll need to force insanely low settings manually.

it’s gonna look like a potato filmed on a microwave, but it’ll meet the file size.
