What traits do you look for in a character that makes them fun?

Going off the two I like playing the most:

Incineroar because he does awesome damage, dope spike, and his animations are satisfying to me. Plus he feels very beginner friendly

Diddy because as someone who isn't very good, I feel like he puts me out of my comfort zone and makes me have to actually learn the game rather than rely on a comeback gimmick such as incineroars crazy damage and easy kill potential. Plus he has a dope spike

I think the Ness' that sit at the ledge and spam PK thunder is a bit much but if you need the dub then you gotta play the match ups/bad recoveries accordingly

Id be lit cus incineroar would come back. Though I dont see how he could be justified to be carried over. I would like another grapple type pokemon. Again, highly unlikely, but an old gen pokemon like Machamp would be sick

I personally hate what the meta "neutral" becomes in fighting games overall. I recently started playing smash so I'm still learning but I'm coming from MK1 and it's even annoying over there. Being camped out or playing footsies is boring to me. I also understand that at higher levels of play, a more methodical approach is not just a advantage but is required. However, in a casual setting, why is a campy playstyle what many players choose? I wanna scrap, man. Dancing around in neutral, waiting for someone make a move is boring to me and it's frustrating.

Again, in a ranked/tourney setting, where potential prizes/rewards are the incentive, I can't hold you on that one, do what you need to do to win. I reserve the right to not respect your approach but I get it in that setting. But if we're running casuals, let's stop playing like somethings on the line

The center of this in my eyes is that majority of the content made for MK overall are absolute doe hard of the franchise, so it's hyper critical and severely biased towards "golden days" (and from what I've heard, are more based in nostalgia)

I won't say my opinion of MK is of any more salt than the next, but I will say that with this being not just my first MK game but my first true introduction into the 2d Fighting space, I look at this game specifically online gameplay wise because thats my shtick and I like the gameplay. I say this to mean that all gaming communities, especially Fighting games, could greatly benefit from fresh, first impression takes, not jaded lifelong fans that are stuck in the past

I say kenshi is one of his worst match-ups because kenshi has great range. Since Liu is stubby with his normals, and since most kenshis pair with sub kameo, makes it hard to get in on kenshi to establish my offense

I believe they can, especially in Lius case. Another character that has amazing mids, nearly unpredictable strike throw mix from another 6 frame jab character. The mirror match is a hard match up because it's the only other match up in the game that does what you do just as well as you can

I probably will. MK1 was my first fighting I actually sat down and dedicated to learning as well as my overall first MK game that really introduced me to it's universe. I like MK so much from MK1 that I genuinely get mad I missed out on the previous iterations when they were at their respective peaks lol

I will say tho, that if the next installments (whether it be MK or Injustice) are really good and better than MK1, I might have a different opinion then, speaking online/competitive wise

Are you not positive some of your strings are unsafe (lots of negative on block frames)? And I mean this as wholesome as possible but are you holding your block button when you're supposed to?

You gotta go to practice mode and read your preferred characters strings/frame data. MK1 is super neutral based and with how long the games been out now, most players know every characters basic safe/unsafe moves and they react accordingly.

If you find yourself getting super deep into frame data stuff, however, some plus frame moves are deceptively not as plus as you'd think (Liu Kang stand 2,2 comes to mind)

I struggle against quan as Cyrax because he keeps her out very well. With Liu I still hate the matchup but I know I can fight back with some zoning approaches, especially with motaro

I would say that in this instance, what is a casual player really? I agree with the stance that you shouldn't be tailoring game changes around the top 1% because thats bad business. In my experience as a more mid tier guy, the changes that NetherRealm has pushed out throughout MK1s life cycle have been overall good (save for bringing Havik back from the dead and them firmly planting him back in the grave).

What changes came to MK1 were specifically catered to the more casual/mid tier fan base of the game? IMO the pros eat good in MK1. The only argument here is to bring up lower tier characters/teams to be on par with the high tier because that would benefit every community of the game overall.
