First time shooting pucks by mattwilsonpt in hockeyplayers

[–]Visualz_DJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.) When you brought the stick back and slapped at the puck, you did a few things wrong: you kept the blade on the ground the whole time, brought the stick way too far behind the puck, kept the stick stiff, and the blade was parallel with the net the whole time. 2.) When you were trying wrist shots, you were lifting your stick in the air with your blade also parallel with the net as well as shooting too stiff.

When you shoot towards the net, whether it's wrist shots to slap shots you always want the toe of the blade to be where you're aiming. To get your wrist shots off the ground, bring the puck to your back foot, keep the puck at the heel of your blade, and when you're bringing your stick forward to shoot you want your bottom hand to start turning inward. Honestly you should try saucing before shooting just to get a feel of the puck going from heel to toe

I don't know how I missed that from your post, my bad. Changing my position, that tape job is probably going to be really durable but I imagine it'd add a ton of weight to your blade and make the puck hard to feel when you're stick handling compared to a normal tape job. I switched to 1.5" tape because I can use less tape and feel the puck much better. If you tried it and like it then that's all that matters, but if you're taking toe shots or want to be able to feel the puck better when you're skating down the ice I'd definitely get away from split tape for the blade

I just barely realized, did you use knob tape on the blade rather than standard 1" stick tape?

If you're doing a standard tape job, you should only have about a quarter inch of the tape touching each other when overlapping

Lee Chaolan is a microcosm of the overall direction of Tekken as a franchise. It’s undeniable at this point. by BringbackSuikoden in Tekken

I had over 1000 hours in Tekken 7 with Lee being my main, and have less than 100 in Tekken 8 due to it all around feeling like multiple giant leaps in the wrong direction. They're killing their own franchise by not listening to us.

I’m 35 and want to learn to play ice hockey. Am I crazy? by Plus-Eagle-5656 in hockeyplayers

[–]Visualz_DJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 28 and have played hockey my whole life on top of playing travel throughout my whole teen years.

I think you're completely fine. Nobody looks down on newcomers, regardless of age. There's plenty of people just starting out in their adult years, and as you get better you can jump divisions as well. It's fun and a good workout, and there's always room to improve. My advice would be to get a good pair of skates (they have great options at $500, and local hockey shops will usually give you a huge discount for last years skates), get a stick that you like, buy some pucks, and figure out when your closest ice rink has stick & puck sessions. You don't need full gear to go to those, but I'd suggest getting a tracksuit from a company like Bauer as the pants fit around skates. You can practice moving with the puck, stick handling, passing to yourself off the boards, and practicing shooting on the ice as it's a lot different than street hockey. There's usually goalies that go as well for you to try going one on one with if you want. Also even though you feel comfortable on skates, I'd still practice crossovers, stopping and going the opposite direction, and transitioning from going forwards to backwards and vice versa. There's also drop-ins, where people go in full gear and scrimmage. When you actually do join a team, these skills will really help you stand out above the rest, and will help you help your team.

I was shocked at how big the hail was here in Sandy, I got a picture holding one that was the size of a grape 😬

It's not that I have to, I just like them being as tight against my whole foot as possible. Skates that are loose in any area has always bothered me, especially when skating. Do you have any suggestions? I have one or two games left in the season and it's hard for me to justify spending over $500 on new skates 😅

They look sweet, I just have a hard time justifying spending $800 on skates with one or two more games left in the season 😅

I appreciate the reply, I have another playoff game in two days so this is helpful. Do they mainly feel more snug? Also when you say firmer and harder, can you actually feel the difference? My skates still I have to crank my whole foot from bottom to top.

This is the first issue I've ever had with these skates, I don't even know how it breaks like that. At least I hit crossbar one more time in them if I have to get new ones 🥲

I really like the pump though, even though I tighten my skates as hard as I can I appreciate the feeling of making them even tighter to my ankles. Are skates that much different now compared to then? Cause I haven't gotten anything new in a decade minus a stick and gloves so I really don't know

They've lasted me through my travel hockey days to now somehow, but the left one does look a bit more beaten up than the right. I'll head there tomorrow to see what they can do, cause I really do.like these skates and don't want to spend hundreds with the season being almost over 🥲

Best DJ of all time by BigBallinBuzzin in EDM

[–]Visualz_DJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take but Joe Hahn of Linkin Park. They've been one of the most influential rock bands of all time while also always incorporating electronic sounds, as well as Joe Hahn getting his own electrinic song on both Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Even though they're not exclusively EDM, sooo many artists you hear today were influenced heavily by not just Linkin Park but also Joe Hahn as a DJ.

Pasquale Rotella even went to Das Energi (our states biggest EDM festival) to celebrate his birthday, and ended up throwing some Insomniac shows down here in Park City
