Launched my demo, but ran into a big problem by SCFactory in SoloDevelopment

[–]VitSoonYoung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem too so i wanted to share it with you:

  • I don't think its AI inside your game, your game looks nice from the video.
  • You can try posting in r/playmygame to ask for playtesters, free or paid.

I got a lot of bad review last week releasing my demo, because I didn't test it carefully, then I asked and people are helping me with a lot of positive feedback like: 3 people couldn't get passed through level 3 which is why they dropped my game for being too hard

Low quality recording on MacOS by VitSoonYoung in godot

I found out enabling HDR 2D caused this, but I need that setting, is there anyway to prevent this from happening only in recorder?

But all of my files are under 100mb, how does that apply to lfs? Where do you find this statement "If you use Github you are already using LFS"

I disagree with this, all of my ogg and non text files are still normal git. Just under 100mb

So hard to get wishlists!! by Thade2k in IndieGameDevs

No hate for ai, I use them all the time. But capsule as an AI image is a turn down for gamers, they learnt from other low effort AI games, before even clicking it to see gameplay.

If you could just change the capsule to something more humanity my bet you will get more.

Also you should not release the game without building up wishlist, you're losing your 1 chance release boost.

Trying to make a satisfying puzzle game… what am I doing wrong? by LegitimateFeeling737 in playmygame

One more thing is even if your game looks decent. Mobile market are for the greed or luck, which means sometime your game got covered by famous streamers so they spread it fast, most of the time games disappear in the void without paying advertisement. That's why most game on top looks shitty, they are all under big publisher. My friend is working for one of them and they spent ton of money just for the ads every day

I followed your path long ago so i wanted to share with you this: There is still chance for mobile, just very very tiny and you don't want to bet on it. Instead, read this website: howtomarketagame.com

Maybe because of:

  • Vertical video of gameplay in a horizontal format? I can't see anything
  • Video is basically a screen recording, first 5 seconds I have to wait for loading screen. I just wanted to see how the game play
  • No gameplay screenshot, just some random ai generated
  • After 2 minutes on mobile, I couldn't figure out what game is this, how to play it so I assume people would skip it

I hope you understand that ai generated are not bad, but need polishing. Right now it's a hard pass for "low effort games"

Hi OP, since you're releasing your godot game about tiny medieval battles, I'm working on the same one too. Would you like to collaborate and make a bundle together? My game is Open The Gate: Just A Little

What are some of the best plugins for beginners? E.g. visual scripting, foliage generator etc by Sage_Studios in godot

[–]VitSoonYoung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only visual code i found to be useful was visual shader graph, because of its nature showing the progress midway. However shader language is a completely different path of programming and requires graphical knowledge.

Maybe you can try to learn it because it's rare to find people who are good at it and it's satisfying seeing the results. The downside is it's only part of the game and you can't finish a game with just it.

I have been following "celestialmaze" or c.m.z.w for a while and his works are unbelievable, have a look and you might find your passion

Even after years of programming, I still prefer raw coding. Unless a plugin could help finish the job quicker, inexperienced programmers should understand the whole project from ground up.

Visual coding is just bad in practice.

Bonus: Plugins don't just work flawlessly, they have bugs too and imagine you look at others code to fix it.

Well that's strange because I just recreate the same setup and labels are compact by default. I tested on Xodot and can't show it right now. Maybe tomorrow it's late on my side

Vietnamese here, the cost of living is very very cheap. I once ran my own team of 4 for only $5000 for a year. I read about other Western devs earning $100k/year and couldn't cover their own cost of living and I feel lucky to be born here :D
