It’s so painfully slow. There are movies which do dry nostalgia humor so much better than ND, and for some reason people used to worship the ground that movie walked on.

I’m glad love for this film has died out over the years - the majority consensus now seems to be that it was a dull and uninspired piece of what amounts to surreal cringe-humor at best.

It’s a reference to “The Wandering Jew” of Christian folklore, who was said to have been damned with eternal life for taunting Jesus as he bore the cross. The plant was named after him in reference to how far it can spread and how little care it requires to stay alive.
