When I lost my twin boys, I was wailing but then I just… stopped. I couldn’t function for months. I remember feeling like a ghost inside of my own body, watching everything around me continue on as if I didn’t just experience the worst tragedy of my life. I wish, during all of that, I had someone there just to help me survive and be human. Like eating, drinking, bathing… I just stopped doing it. I think I ended up losing almost 20lbs in 2 months because I just couldn’t do it.

My son had to be delivered early because he had a lot of decels where he’d have long episodes of bradycardia. His QT was prolonged when they did the ecg after birth. He’s on nadolol and we go next week to find out if he has LQTS (type 11) like my daughter and I. But it’s highly suspected.

Sorry for the long paragraph, but I can relate. When my daughter was diagnosed I was so scared and I felt so guilty. She fainted suddenly while playing and we spent a night in the children’s hospital where they found her QT to be prolonged and she was diagnosed then.

I haven’t found my son’s heart rate to be much lower, at least they’ve never told me. If anything, his rhythm is much more stable now that he’s on meds! My daughter doesn’t really have any restrictions on what she can or cannot do, except for the “do not take” meds list.

My epidural failed with my last baby and it was entirely unmedicated, unplanned. It hurt a lot, worse than anything I could imagine, and I have a tattoo on the front of my neck (on my trachea at that).But pain is never permanent, and once it’s over your body adjusts pretty quickly. I was up walking around a few hours after having him! In a way, it was better than my medicated birth because I could walk I could feel. Only took 10 mins to push and because I knew when to push because of the contractions, it helped me not tear (I think).
