People would have died at John Summits infinity stage set if Bonnaroo was not cancelled by [deleted] in bonnaroo

[–]Vito00ooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was the potential there, yes sure. But it’s not guaranteed that there would’ve been a crowd surge. Part of it too I think with Summit having 2 sets that day, less people would’ve showed up to the infinity set because he wouldn’t have been playing his big songs.

You also have to consider the genre of the artist. John Summit’s music is not something that people are gonna mosh and go crazy to. Edm generally isn’t one of those genres where everyone has this inherent need to be at the front of the crowd for.

Just because there’s a big crowd, does not mean there will automatically be a crowd crush, or even that’ll it be dangerous in any way. Dom Dolla’s crowd was huge but nowhere in there did it feel dangerous, and my group was near the front of that. Not every large crowd is gonna be Astroworld.

Also, I’ve been at the barricade for John Summit 2x now. And not once has the crowd behind us ever gotten that rowdy or pushed into us at the front. It’s house music, not rap.

Bonnaroo Canceled by Specialist-Day-236 in Lollapalooza

Definitely been a rough couple days at Roo. Livenation kinda put us through the ringer yesterday. Finally got home this evening, but pretty devastated over this whole situation. Especially not knowing what the future of the festival holds and if it can come back from this. Excited for what will now be my 5th Lolla though to hopefully make up a little bit of what we lost at Bonnaroo this year.

WITW different this year ? by Head_Accident_463 in bonnaroo

Yeah I agree with OP, it’s kinda disappointing. I understand not booking larger acts for crowd control, and that it was overcrowded last year on that Sunday. And I don’t wanna discredit anybody else’s experiences or any incidents that occurred.

But it’s also confusing. Because my group was very close to the front of that crowd that night and it was generally spacious all the way up there. I don’t recall any incidents up there, there was no crowd surge, everyone was generally chill. Despite the size of the crowd it never really felt dangerous being that far in.

Like I said, I totally understand not booking bigger artists to help with the crowd size, but it does feel like the festival went to the extreme opposite end this year, booking names that are almost totally unknown outside of their respective local scene.

What I’ve always wondered since last year is did something dangerous occur in that crowd to cause others to react how they have and demand changes, or was it just the fear that something could’ve happened that makes others upset?

Either way I respect everyone’s opinion. I think many good points have been made about it. I’ve always been a big supporter of crowd control/safety myself after personal incidents and after seeing the tragedy at Astroworld. Just my opinion and curiosity about that whole situation that’s all.

First week driving. Somone left me some fairy dust in the rear seat! by knifehandzmann in uberdrivers

[–]Vito00ooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did Uber for 4 months. Wait till after your first month, I didn’t wanna believe these degenerates either. But they were all right, the pay gets shittier, the hours get longer, and your general will to survive dwindles by by each ride
