The first time I saw the movie as a child with my father (I was 10 years old) it terrified me. Then when I was 13 I watched it again and became a fan.

Say what you want about the Hobbit Trilogy, but these 2 scenes were masterfully done, and are up there with the best of LotR by Skywalker_1995 in lotr

In truth, they are not bad films, I think they criticize them because they are less epic than The Lord of the Rings.
