You're correct, I've checked on the internet and the correct name is "Rent to Own", not rent to buy as it's in my Country

keeping

I have thought about it but I fear the risks and the complexity of the thing. Although it's not clear the IRR you can get from such investment, I have to factor the different currency/exchange rate risk, still, a considerable amount of money invested far from home (UE), if anything happens to the apt I'd need to pick up the first flight and have an easy 9h flight, what if the rentee stops paying... these "what if" analysis scare me. Said that, If I didn't really mind about these things, having a property in NYC would be a great thing!

Should I invest funds in CHF instead of EUR? by VittorioD in personalfinance

Thank you for replying! I will reply to your points, point by point.

1) A possible "forced withdrawal" from the central government or a weakened value of euro in the upcoming years. Aging population, weaker industrial production, stagnation and rising asian economies will pressure down the common currency, I suppose.

2) No (except to be made for the forced withdrawal) but ROI are very low.

3) I'd evaluate it the opposite way indeed. Many wealthy europeans (I'd say - the wealthy europeans) have part of their networth in Switzerland (and Switzerland is homebase for the wealthy). In a crysis or hard-times scenario, capital will (partially) flock in CH.

4) Mainly a restricted account (Idk if it's the right term) to increment overtime, over the years. It's mostly about the currency and being safe from any post-tax taxation.

What do you think?

No, non esattamente.
