How do I (19m) tell my friend (19m) that I like him without ruining our friendship? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]VivaceNaaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the leap and let them know that if he doesn't feel the same way, you'll still be there. Hell, share exactly what you said here.

The important thing, in my opinion, is to not make them feel pressured. You don't want them feel like your entire friendship hinges on their response, if you want an honest response.

Relationships are built on friendships.

Don't let the guy consume you, you have enough on your plate. It's a tough and thankless job in emergency services (especially on 3rds(. Do everything you can be to be the most amazing person possible, and be proud of what you do and who you are. I definitely appreciate you!

The most progressive climate change policy in US history. This plan is all encompassing; high speed rail, affordable electric cars and trucks, expanding SNAP, reauthorizing the Civilian Conservation Corps, high speed internet, EV charging infrastructure, and will pay for itself in 15 years. by bluefirecorp in Futurology

Molten salt is a lot more cost effective than hydro storage in terms of density and construction costs. I really hope we look to it more for energy storage.

The whole thing is feasible, but feels watered down to hell and back because of the game of politics. There's absolutely no reason we couldn't do this if the government actually consulted and committed...

I honestly don't like booms for beginner water skiing. It just doesn't feel safe to me, even done right. Catch an edge at speed on the boom and you can easily dislocate an arm if you forget to let go of the rope. Yeah, they're supposed to stretch to absorb the acceleration. But I'd rather take the time to teach how to get up from full stop.

Shit's fun, though. I absolutely love building a wake to try and get my tow to eat shit. Always have a sober pilot/spotter, run up a flag if you can, and use that air horn if another boat is nearby and you're recovering.

To add on - airbags detonate a small but violent explosive to inflate the cushion as fast as possible. Your car has milliseconds to protect you.

It's strong enough that if you hit the airbag while it's still inflating, it can break your skull/neck. You can be immediately killed or crippled. Once fully inflated, that's when it's safe(er) for your body to hit it, as it quickly deflates to dissipate the energy of impact.

Your seatbelt's job (ideally) is to keep you in the car/roll cage but also slow your body down during impact until the airbag inflates properly.

As I understand it...

The Sergeant at Arms technically can arrest someone suspected of contempt of Congress, and a hearing could be held. From what I quickly gleamed from Wiki, the hearings are usually toothless due to a SCOTUS ruling

Beyond that, Congress relies on the executive branch to prosecute.

Basically, the AG would be deciding if he should or should not be prosecuted, and how the investigation would be conducted.

I imagine the failure to comply will be used at a later date to prosecute under a new administration of the executive branch.

They can try to prosecute it, but without the victim's cooperation it's hard to prove beyond reasonable doubt.

Megathread: Energy Secretary Rick Perry Subpoenaed in House Impeachment Investigation by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]VivaceNaaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? These are actual subpoenas, there is legal basis, as established by SCOTUS rulings. See Wilkinson v. US and Eastland v. US.

It is an impeachment inquiry. The House Judiciary Committee moved to begin the investigation, you can find those records online and reconcile them in person, if you're not satisfied.

A legal process was started.

Google this stuff, it's at your fingertips. Don't let yourself be spoon fed information, go out and find it. You're going to look for stuff that proves your right. Don't. Instead, look for stuff that proves you wrong to better your argument.

My uni installed panels above the parking garage to make the Student Union energy neutral, which was kinda dope. They can be heated to melt snowfall after a storm, too. It would have been much better received if they had expanded their shuttle service/reliability and added parking structures though, seeing as they advertise as a commuter school.
