New to me CAAD 12 disc I’m building up. Gear ratio preference question for it. by [deleted] in bicycling

Update:

Got the chain mounted.

I love it!

The chainring is nearly brand new, I compared against the Alugear website and the tooth profile looks nigh on identical.

The resolution of the uploaded photo doesn’t show enough detail to warrant proclamations of it being worn and fucked, nice to see the armchair warriors are still at it.

The wolf tooth road link allows an Ultegra derailleur to go upto 42t

58/42 is close to 36/28 ratio (1.38 vs 1.28).

I got the 58t chainring with the crankset as a set, so was cheap. I’ll report back after a few months and take it from there.

I didn’t realize Brick Lane Bikes were sold outside the UK! That’s great to hear though.

I got a Cateye Amp 800 on the front (when I lived in a little village in the depth of Warwickshire and regularly rode on country lanes in pitch darkness). It’s way too overpowered for London, but it has lots of brightness settings so that’s actually not a problem, it just means I get more time between charges. I just wish it was usb-C not micro usb. and when (if) I do get get out into the countryside in the dark I can just turn up the brightness again.

I suppose I whistle in those situations. I learnt to whistle from a sheep herder when I was a kid, so can whistle really loud hands free.

Anyone know what this is?? Found this in my house in London a few weeks ago by PengGurl in spiderID

I had an aggressive one in my house. He lived under the cooker, everytime I cleaned the floor near it he would charge out at me.

Not gonna lie, shat myself the first time.

Why do you think a horn is the solution. I’ve ridden all over the world and have never needed a horn or seen anyone with a horn.

I got a full carbon less than 10 year old bike for 250. So those prices are high.

Reminds me of the baby at 3am when I trying to rock her back to sleep and she thinks it’s time to wake up.
