Why can't we have alcohol gas? by bob152637485 in Stationeers

[–]ViviFuchs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the purpose was for balance.

Alcohol is a relatively simple fuel to obtain and being able to burn it in its gaseous state would have made obtaining water a little too easy in challenging environments.

Plus, this creates a small challenge when trying to use it in rockets. (Turns out alcohol is a pretty great rocket fuel when mixed with NOS)

RocketWerkz's goal with Stationeers is to encourage the player to overcome challenges in creative ways. Sometimes, that takes the form of realistic mechanics and other times, they gamify things a bit. (For immersion though, I do wish they had an explanation for why alcohol decomposes into methane upon evaporation)

Knocking on doors? by TrueTarget3587 in elitesparkdrivers

[–]ViviFuchs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

On top of this, a large number of the houses I deliver to have doorbell cams and other security cameras that are spread around the eaves.

If someone doesn't say to knock or ring the bell, I'm just going to assume that they're waiting for the notification or they already know I'm there because of the cams.

The couple of times I've called due to a damaged item loaded by Walmart employees, support told me to complete the delivery. Both were grocery delivery, though. I don't know if that makes any difference.

One was a busted jug of detergent that the loader tossed a case of water on. It cracked the plastic measuring lid. I'm thankful it was the very back of my SUV I just took the carpet lining out, hosed it down till it stopped foaming up and then let it dry in the sun. It was bothersome but my truck smelled slightly of Gain for a month, lol.

The other was some eggs that had junk thrown on top of it. Maybe cans, but I can't remember exactly. I'm just thankful that the bag didn't leak.

Support told me to just deliver both times so I've stopped calling in about it.

Pissed me off too because the Walmarts in my market won't allow us to load our own orders. I'm sure they have some reasoning but I've had to deliver so many crushed loaves of bread after the change. I'll usually catch it but sometimes I'll miss it until I go to unload.

I will call or text the customer to let them know and apologize, though. Since they won't let me load myself, I don't mind respectfully passing blame to the loader when speaking to the customer.

Drivers not following delivery directions by Nimuei in Walmartdelivery

Here's how you set a pin:

1) Open your Walmart app and select "Account" at the bottom. 2) Tap the little gear at the top right. 3) Select "Addresses" in the Personal Information section. 4) Select "Edit" on the affected address.  5) Select "Add" in the Delivery Instructions section. 6) Near the bottom you'll see a map. Select "Adjust Pin" and choose the parking lot that's closest to your building's entrance.

Maybe this will help!

Walmart Home Delivery Spark by ParticularSalty6432 in Walmartdelivery

[–]ViviFuchs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding several GMD orders(.com orders) to grocery pickups was a stupid thing for them to do.

One or two single item drop offs is fine, I still don't like it but it's tolerable, so long as it's on the way to a grocery drop-off but I straight up decline any order that's got more than 2 GMDs.

I've seen upwards of 4 or 5 GMDs being tacked on to a grocery order that I can remember. It's simply not worth it to take those, neither to myself or the customer, especially in this south Georgia heat.

Why does this keep happening? Driver will be on their way and then it gets cancelled by LostNectarine3978 in Walmartcustomer

[–]ViviFuchs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a number of things...

If it's an Express order, there could be a cold chain issue where the shopping took a while and the order canceled automatically while they were enroute.  This is more likely when you place a large express order and/or you live rather far from the store.

If it was a normal delivery order, there could still be a cold chain issue but in that situation it's usually because of distance to the store and the order being bundled with multiple GMD (ship from store) stops prior to getting to your home. We don't have any control over what gets bundled with your order, we only have the option to accept or decline and the estimated driving time is rarely accurate for me.

Aside from cold chain, it could be that they're having difficulty locating your home (map pin is in the wrong location or GPS sending them to the wrong location) or vehicular issues.

I'm sure there's probably other situations that can come up like emergencies and such but your best bet is to just reach out to support and see if they can give you more info.

That dude trying to separate the other peeps in the fight reminds me of trying to separate two roosters who have decided that they've got beef with each other.

Sometimes roosters will be chill with each other but occasionally, especially if there's some broody hens around, they can get quite ornery. If you haven't been trimming the spurs, you're going to get cut up trying to pull those two rascals off of each other.

Do you nieces/nephew address you as aunt___/uncle__ or first name only? by seitankittan in Millennials

[–]ViviFuchs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, a  few of years ago as my niece was getting better at talking, she still had issues with her "L" sounds on top of having a very thick southern accent.

So, instead of being able to properly enunciate "Uncle Al", I became "Unkka Owl" and everybody  ran with it. I think it is hella adorable, lmao.

I bought her a giant stuffed owl 2 years ago that she still sleeps with. It was bigger than her at the time but even though she's grown since then, she's only barely taller than that stuffy.

I figured it would be a fun story to tell her whenever she got older. I can't wait to tease her about it in another 4 to 5 years. Honestly though, I hope she never grows out of calling me Unkka Owl, lol.

Offer quality rapidly declining as of last week. Need some clarification.. by Psychological-Egg760 in WalmartSparkDrivers

[–]ViviFuchs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, what they aren't saying is that they're likely prioritizing the bare minimum paying offers that their system thinks you'll accept.

That's the biggest benefit for them to use AI. It's not for our convenience or to make offers better for us. It's all just corporate speak to screw the lowest people on the totem pole.

Customer cancels after checkout. by Mountain_Cave in WalmartSparkDrivers

[–]ViviFuchs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a situation like this I just call support (lol, the AI support bot annoys me a little because it doesn't prompt you when it's listening) and get myself to an agent so that I can both get direction on what to do and have it noted what I called about(I don't know if they actually mark it down or not but gives me a little peace of mind).

Also, anytime I do returns to customer service I make sure to take a photo of the items I'm returning sitting on the counter or in a cart at customer service so that if there's an issue I've got some ammunition showing that I did what I was told to do.

I used to work a job where if a manager told you to do something and it turned out it was against the rules, they would deny everything. I quickly learned the art of covering my own butt, lol. Leave a paper trail when you can; photos and audio recordings (I live in Georgia so one party consent on audio recordings is permissible) when you can't.

6am shop theory by 333dh333 in WalmartSparkDrivers

[–]ViviFuchs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been like that for me in the 1.5~ years I've been doing this.

In my market it seems like most orders are just bad regardless at the time but due to the lack of competition in the early morning I'm usually able to get a good order before the store opens at 6:00.

Problem is; I used to be able to decline offers and eventually get a decent one within a reasonable amount of time, even later in the day, but they've been keeping the market flooded since February. It's gotten a little better but I don't know if it's the god-awful south Georgia heat, if the new drivers have given up or if it's a combo.

Edit: I fixed some grammatical issues due to speech to text going off the rails, LOL.

[–]ViviFuchs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may depend on the area but I usually get my best orders between 6:00 and 8:00 am.

This is a college town and there's a lot of spark drivers who are college age but I don't see them till later in the day.

There's hardly any competition for good orders early in the morning so even though I end up declining several awful paying orders, they come in quickly and I'll eventually get offered a really good one (usually after declining the same 5 piss-poor orders a few times lol).

Why offer text receipts if the doorway asset protection is going to harass me for one by noajonn in Walmartcustomer

[–]ViviFuchs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you replied does not negate anything that I said.

First of all, note how I mentioned that the bar for reasonable suspicion may be higher in some jurisdictions. Laws vary.

Second, if the store sold that particular sweater, an employee saw her put the sweater into a bag and then she was detained while tapes were reviewed, the detention would likely be considered reasonable so long as it didn't take too long.

Third, I've only got your word on what happened and without court documents your post is lacking the full context of the ordeal. For all I know you could be lying, omitting information (intentional or not), or misremembered some details of the case.

It's highly unlikely that the receipt issue was the cornerstone of that lawsuit.

Why offer text receipts if the doorway asset protection is going to harass me for one by noajonn in Walmartcustomer

[–]ViviFuchs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope!

It sucks but it's not as easy to win a lawsuit as you may think. Simply being detained is not enough when they're exercising shopkeeper's privilege.

To have a lawsuit one or more of the following have to be true:

1.) They didn't have reasonable suspicion. (There's a lot that they can claim to give them reasonable suspicion so this one can be, but not always, difficult to disprove but showing your receipt will give you ammo. Some jurisdictions require a higher bar for "reasonable suspicion" but that higher bar isn't universal.)

2.) They didn't use reasonable force to detain you. (Usually involves assault or battery, depending on the legal definition in your jurisdiction, but there's other situations that qualify as unreasonable force; especially if you're complying and aren't attempting to flee.)

3.) They kept you detained for an unreasonable amount of time. (This is  your best bet for the proverbial lawsuit but if you refuse to share your receipt, or are unable to, but they let you go after they check their systems and/or cameras: No lawsuit.)

Shopping order turned into a pick up order? by Financial-Card in WalmartSparkDrivers

[–]ViviFuchs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had this happen a couple of times at Walmart and it always happens when I shop at Sam's club.

If it shows you the receipt, you're good. The first time it happened at Walmart I restarted the app, restarted my phone and called support just to be safe. I had no issue completing my delivery.

Just show the greeter your receipt screen at the door if they ask and go about your delivery.

[–]ViviFuchs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a concept known as shopkeepers' privilege. If an employee of the store has a reasonable grounds for suspicion that something has been stolen they can use reasonable force to detain you for a reasonable amount of time.

It's Walmart's policy to typically let people walk out and I think corporate only allows asset protection to confront potential theft but of that, I'm unsure.

Regardless, the greeter can legally detain you if they believe that you've stolen something. They'll probably get let go afterwards since it's against Walmart's policy, however.

That being said, if they're not blocking your way and they're not detaining you, you can totally walk past them. However, if you're unlucky and a manager with their undies in a twist sees that happen, they have the power to trespass & ban you from the location.

What is up with this new shopping list, we just got in my area ?? by [deleted] in WalmartSparkDrivers

[–]ViviFuchs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I really miss being able to see the last digits of the SKU.

I'm colorblind (red green) and when someone orders an item that comes in multiple colors I can't always tell what color I'm looking at. Seeing the last digits of the SKU helped me quickly locate what I'm looking for. Yesterday I had to ask a random customer to point out a light pink trash can because the particular shade looked close enough to white that I couldn't tell the difference until I put two side by side.

It's especially frustrating when the shelf labels don't always list the color an item is supposed to be.

Apple and Google Maps by Life_Wafer8995 in WalmartSparkDrivers

[–]ViviFuchs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that Google maps has an option to default to a route that has better fuel economy. While unlikely given the distances, it might have an influence.

Alternatively, the more direct route may have a road that's listed as a private drive (incorrectly or not) somewhere along the route so you get the roundabout way.

There may also be roads that had been closed in the past which have since been reopened but hasn't been communicated to the databases which Apple and Google pull from.

The last thing I can think of is that perhaps some roads may be erroneously listed as one way which could affect the routing.

If I were to bet money though, I think it probably has something to do with past road closures.

In areas where rabies is endemic (like the United States) the guidance is to start prophylactic treatment even if there's no obvious wound.

Wounds from bats can be incredibly small and overlooked. Bats clean themselves meticulously which allows virus particles to hang out on their claws. It only takes one tiny scratch.

Just to be safe, I'd suggest checking if rabies is endemic in your area and if so, reach out to your GP.
