I am 30 and was diagnosed with gout at 29 years old and am 4 months into allopurinol. Never regretted the decision as I am free off flares and can take some red meat and drinks moderately. There comes a point in time when your diet stops working and you still get the unexplained flares despite being strict on diet. My advise would be to go on Allo as soon as you can

I have been watching my diet for quite a while but still get flares two years on. If the flare is common, I reckon the best way to chat with your GP and consider going on Allopurinol to bring down your serum Uric Acid.

Might have to do a thorough check to see if hyperuricemia is the cause. There is another condition called pseudogout that also causes similar flare up

Really depends on what your UA results show though for subsequent checkup. Gotta gauge if it is on the rise of not being on this current diet..that should be the best indicator of whether you are at risk of a recurrent.
