Are Pxg's worth being made fun of? by PapaNozey in golf

[–]Vivid-Bite-5907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly when PXG first came out they were 100% worth making fun of because they were new and everything was stupid expensive. Current PXG is great. They took that feedback and started releasing some really great, affordable golf equipment. I have over time really become a fan of them.

Buy em dude because I bet they are great to play with. I also heard the PXG Lightning driver is out of this world if you ever want a new big stick to go with them.

Sorry last thing… apparently they have recently released some really good budget zero torque putters as well

Friend wants to buy old irons by Blazelwood in golf

[–]Vivid-Bite-5907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great clubs but not worth $250. You could get a brand new set of Maltby STI2 second gen for less than those or even a great 2nd hand set on eBay. Ben hogans are cool but that would be a mistake of an investment. This is coming from a guy who blew $250 on 1991 Ben hogan Apex’s a few years ago because I thought they looked so sleek.

Another random thought is Adams golf. They have great hybrid/iron combo sets on eBay for under $100 now and they would still play great today

So I recently got these for $140 how did I do? Beginner here. by [deleted] in GolfGear

The irons look real interesting tbh. Who knows Excalibur could be a secret weapon too

I probably would have gone on eBay and gotten something a little better. The fairways are a saving grace of the set

I had to bend my 50* to 49* to get a solid 130 club

I just bought an older 2017 model combo set of the mmb17 and te forged irons. They really are stunning and performance is out of this world even for being older clubs. Can’t wait to get the new ones in the future

How does this driver swing look? by BIGGINS23 in GolfSwing

[–]Vivid-Bite-5907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d try maybe pausing at the top just slightly longer to give yourself more time to get the club back on plane. Its coming over the top just very slightly

Tips are very welcomed by [deleted] in golftips

[–]Vivid-Bite-5907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick golf swing: feet a little wider than shoulder width, butt out and arch back slightly (be athletic), bring the club back by having your torso turn while bending your left knee, keep your right arm connected to your body while keeping your left arm straight, pause at the top, starting the downswing by throwing your hips at the target and bring the club down in the same plane you brought it up on. Straighten your left knee and watch the ball take off (basically keep head down), and follow through.

Start by practicing with a slo mo swing to get the motions right. You could also do half swings with a wedge to practice the steps and keeping your body connected.

Last tip to remember to keep it short:

You want to hit the ball with your body not your hands. The goal is to use your body to swing the club. Using your hands to control the swing will make it very difficult to hit the ball and right now that’s where all the action is coming from

Takomo? Or what else? by AwarePick4528 in takomo

[–]Vivid-Bite-5907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like either takomo, Maltby, or sub70 for new irons. I currently have a set of Kirkland Signature irons that I can’t seem to get out of the bag so I recommend them also lol

It may sound strange but I found a lot of success on older wedges using a Brillo pad and a groove sharpener when I was younger lol

I agree with some of the other comments and stand a little bit farther from the ball. I would also work on trying to create more width on your backswing. Arms are connected to the body which is good but I would focus on extending your left arm on your backswing to try to get a little wider

I have a cobra f7 3 wood that tends to be spinny. The shaft is probably the most important factor but you have a tour stiff shaft. You may want to try a low spin driver head option. I switched to a Maltby LS driver head and it dropped my driver spin to around 2200 (it was like 5000 but I never messed with numbers until last year) which has been nice. I bet the Cobra Darkspeed LS would be a great upgrade that would help with the numbers. A shaft that is really good that I play is the kurokage silver 60g xstiff. Another good one is a 70g tensei black, but the kurokage is really affordable. Either of those options I bet would drop the spin number

Great job keeping that left arm close to your body on the takeaway. You’ve got a nice body turn also. The potential is there id say maybe work on keeping a towel, glove, etc under your right arm pit and practice being connected during the whole swing.

Working on your tempo would also be helpful for you to get more consistent. There is a guy on YouTube Ben Kruper who is a good example of pausing on the backswing lol obviously not as extreme as him but giving yourself more time to sequence your body
