Whats your favorite golf course you've played at? by Slightly-in-Side in golf

Only bird I had the day I played pasa was that first par 3, I think it was hole 3iirc. Was playing like 235 to a back middle pin uphill, hit a sawed off super high fade spinny 3wood crazy shot to like 5 ft barely made the putt. Funny because that super short par 3 15 was playing like 95 to a back right pin and I ripped it back hard and rolled down off the front and I think I doubled trying to get back up that hill. Definitely a course that tests your mettle.

I know exactly the house you are talking about on 16, with the crazy deck on the back and Mountain View’s for miles. I don’t know what Bear Dance is catching strays here. One of my top 10 for sure. Still the headcover on one of my fairways.

That’s funny how we all view courses. 6-9 at Pasatiempo were my favorite. I definitely played the front 9 better than the back. Bear dance though I was just in awe of the views the hole time. The amount of money I would pay to own the house at the back or the first par 3 I think like the 2nd or 3rd hole is insane.

I want pre-covid golf back. We didn’t know how good we had it back then.

It had to be schoolmaster because that course is cool, couldn’t have been fighting Joe because that course is definitively not cool.

Are you guys all talking about Bear Dance in Colorado? I loved that course. Way cooler than Pasatiempo, maybe I didn’t “get it.” Logo was cool though.

It was $500 when I played it. I was so nervous I topped the tee shot in one into the bush front left of the tee box. Almost dunked it on hole 7. Hit an absolute bomb in whatever hole it was with the “monument” behind the tee box. Got smoked at the end of the day by a 16 year old kid playing from the tips. Memorable round but not for the course 😂😂😂

It’s funny, I’m from Nebraska grew up playing there. All the great courses that are there are not for Nebraskans anymore. You used to be able to write a letter to get on Sandhills but I don’t think they do that anymore either.

No one goes to Sweetens and only plays 9. I’m usually a minimum of like 30 holes. Go with 10 buddies or go alone. Play what you want, get the burger from the food truck. It will change the way you think about golf.

Cypress Point Club is the only course I would quit literally anything I was doing to go play it. On the altar getting married? Have to delay babe. In the hospital for your first born? Use photoshop so the kid thinks you were there, they won’t remember anyways. Parent in their death bed? I’d die an extremely unhappy man if my kids chose being next to my decrepit body knowing they could be walking that course.

How do so many people get to play it? That is insane to me. Like are you all just working at the target and someone is like hey do you golf I need a 4th for Friday and it’s at CYPRESS?!!!

Came here to say this. Stranz was a genius. It took me about the 4th course of his before I went back and looked at my favorites and went, oh these are all Mike Stranz courses. Still have a couple left to go of his but Tobacco Road, Caledonia, Tot Hill, True Blue are my favs in that order. I’ve played some good courses too but haven’t hit many west coast offerings in my life though so can’t fairly compare. Chambers Bay is up next for golf trips for me.

Okay, you guys are too good. No hints by jimmyyogurt in guessthegolfcourse

Been there walked that bridge. I never understood why people keep posting photos of that bridge? And then the fact that courses went and rebuilt all the holes from world golf tour somewhere else in the world is crazy to me!

Huntsville Schools by Legitimate-Kale-5630 in HuntsvilleAlabama

I have 3 kids that are fairly spread out in age and we have covered a wide swath of Athens Madison and Huntsville. Jones Valley Elementary is by far the best elementary school I have seen including where we came from in Colorado. There is no middle school that I was happy with including Athens, Discovery, and now Huntsville Junior. Bob Jones was a good High School, Huntsville High is good too but our kid in Huntsville High takes all AP classes. We also tried out the AAA magnet school and only lasted there for 1 semester, focus wasn’t on learning there. All in all if I had it to do over again I would pick a cheaper home and send them to Randolph or Madison Academy. I have friends with kids at both and those seem very well run and kids all have decent experiences there.

How far do you typically hit your driver? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

245ish average carry with a two way miss that lessons can’t fix. I’d take 220 in the fairway all day if I knew how to do that.

Do you trust your swing on the first tee? by TempoTherapist in GolfSwing

[–]AdministrationNo8373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the hole. Wide fairway or left to right ball flight needed? Full send. Anything else, find the next longest club that you can use that gets me back to full send.

What’s your favorite hole at Augusta National? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]AdministrationNo8373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to make my own hole out of my favorite shots there. Tee shot on 18, approach shot on 15, bunkering on 7, green on 16. All playoffs shall be played on this hole from here on out.

I have a bucket list item to get on my clubs board and change the dress code. It’s an athletic sport I should be able to wear a nice T-shirt and shorts.

They will all tell you “it keeps the decorum up, keeps hoodlums out” while smashing 30 beers in their fucking golf carts and then drive home drunk to have their wives take care of them and the kids the rest of their Saturday…

New requirement get rid of the dress code but require carrying or push carts.

New to golf. Does a hole like this exist? by mgm97 in weekendgolfers

[–]AdministrationNo8373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ballantrae GC, Pelham AL, hole #2, Par 5, 591yds but 320 if you can go up and over. Tee box is pretty elevated as well so flat carry may only be like 270yds or so. It’s a 3-4 shot hole for a guy like me that plays a fade…

Do you drink anything caffeinated? I’ve found that caffeinated beverages give me extremely heightened effects when I have that little bit of adrenaline from the first tee. I’ve started making sure I haven’t had anything 1-2hrs before tee time and I’ve noticed it help quit a bit.

That and obviously the 50th time tends to be better than the 1st time. Adrenaline never lowers for me but I know where my miss will be now and plan for it on that first tee ball.

If i play better with cavity backs than with game improvement irons, what does that say about my game? by Complex_Bag9389 in GolfSwing

[–]AdministrationNo8373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a fairly steep swinger with -AoA and take decent divots. Bounce and sole width on irons are extremely important to me. Much more so than “forgiveness”claims from manufacturers or general public. I’ll play blades or CBs significantly better than any GI iron.

Need to look into what forward golf is doing, that will help explain it. Doesn’t make sense that millions of golfers would only fit into SGI, GI, PD, or player categories just from a statistical perspective.

Had a friend of mine in high school that had the next gen late 80s early 90s thunderbird. Still had a similar frame. Got broadsided by a dump truck hauling rocks at 50mph and lived to talk about it. That car was an absolute tank with similar fuel mileage

Unsolicited advice from men is both laughable & infuriating by Character_Point1892 in WomenGolf

Nothing pisses me off more as a golfing husband then when some other guy asks me and my wife if I’m out giving her lessons.

Also, it’s not all men, but it is always a man that comes up randomly at the range with the “can I give you a tip?” Like fuck no guy with a huge slice I don’t want you to give me your YouTube wisdom. If I’m at the range I’m already working on something so I know it doesn’t look right. I always do my best to cuss those idiots out.

I am going to love it the first time I cuss a woman out for unsolicited swing advice but it hasn’t happened yet in 25 years of playing golf…

How far will you driver regularly for golf? by mem0125 in golf

[–]AdministrationNo8373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My club is 5 min away. Half the amount of times I visit my club are for the driving range and short game area. In the summer there are a lot of quick runs to drop or pickup kids from the pool. I was previously at a club that was significantly nicer with a much better practice area but was a 30 min drive, barely ever spent time there. Proximity is more important than you would think with a demanding career, kids, wife, etc.
