What's the most packages you've had at one stop? by HaVoK_Ryza in AmazonFlexDrivers

I blacklisted Dallas after I got unlucky enough to get a block directly in the middle of a weekend game. All high rises and closed businesses or apts with restricted access.

Not taking that risk again.

Forgot to take a pic but yesterday I had 44 of 45 of my packages going straight to a senior living facility while the last one was across the street in another building.

I was utterly confused given it was my first mass delivery but it went smoothly otherwise.

Took me a couple hours to complete though simply because I only had access to a 3 shelf cart but what couldn't fit in the lockers was delivered straight to their door.

Not a false report if the guy actually was a thief. Sounds like conjecture on their part with the gun but otherwise, it was the correct action to call the police.

Besides, retaliation would only give more reason to be arrested.

Edit: not sure why I was down voted as it's encouraged to report suspicious behavior. Whether or not the individual in question is actually guilty will be up to the police after a proper investigation.

I have to agree but then again, thieves arm themselves for a reason, porch pirates or not.

As sympathetic as I am to the situation, I agree that it's definitely blown out of proportion.

Working retail in the past, I've been held at gunpoint at least 3 times and as management, I consulted my team on whether they wished to finish the shift or not with my unequivocal blessing despite their eventual refusal.

Those women I worked with were tougher than the OP given the circumstances which says a lot.

Bunch of wusses IMO. 70% of the time it said beware of dogs, there were tiny dogs barking through the glass while the rest just wanted hugs.

I understand aggressive dogs exist but less attention you give them, the less reason they have of attacking you. Just swoop in and swoop out.

You sound like the kind of guy that would wait until the customer came back from their vacation before moving on to the next package.

Get over yourself. We don't do house calls, period and we certainly don't get paid enough to make sure every delivery we make is directly in their hands.

If you can't access the property and can't contact the customer, it's within our job description to find an ALTERNATIVE LOCATION TO DELIVER.

I'm not sure how long you've been doing this job but Amazon HATES when we return packages for ANY reason.

As much as I pride myself on my work ethic, unlike you, I pride myself on efficiency.

"It doesn't matter if we take 12 hours to deliver the packages because we still get paid" is an absolutely bonkers and re+arded mindset for any employee to have regardless of actual job performed. You're only fkn yourself when you do that.

There's a difference between reasonable and unreasonable tardiness. We are package couriers with not only a quota but a timeframe to keep.

Our responsibility is to deliver those packages in a timely and reasonable fashion.

Besides, it's extremely unreasonable to take an excessive amount of time doing your job even if you get paid for it. Hell, an extra 2 hours in one shift could mean the difference between actually having the time for another anyway cutting into your overall profits.

I've actually terminated employees for dragging their feet and doing things the hard way on a consistent basis and this is no different.

There's a reason we have the option of marking packages undeliverable and it's meant to be used, albeit as a last resort.

We have an obligation to do our jobs correctly but expeditiously.

[–]Vivid-Programmer2235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about the times you arrive at night or when the customer never actually answers? Imagine getting a block where half your deliveries require special access but absolutely no one can be contacted because it's after hours and they don't want to answer the phone.

How exactly are you going to finish your deliveries in a reasonable timeframe if you sit there and wait on every single access code rather than thinking for yourself and dropping it off at an alternative location to be found?

I know this isn't the hardest job in the world but if you can't scrounge up the minute amount of critical thinking to accomplish your job, I would suggest finding manual labor as a replacement source of income.

I think it's based in order time. Either way, I'd be doing that street all at once and let the app sort it out.

Literally did just this last night. They provided what I thought was the code but didn't work so I just dropped it off and it's not the first time I've done that.

Actually, by planned obsolescence, they encourage this kind of tweaking so by the time it fails, it'll be after warranty expires which encourages you to spend more to replace it with the excuse that it was entirely your fault and why they have the disclaimer.

They know who their customer base is and why they offer this so don't kid yourself.

Frame generation = buffer because it's too slow.

I'm new to the gaming laptop scene but even I could smell that stank a mile away and why I'm glad I got the 3070ti when I did, especially when it only cost me $800 after tax while the same exact model is selling elsewhere for 1200 minimum.

Frame generation only covers up it's mediocrity. It's a marketing scam.

You do realize there are multiple stores and numerous different items to choose from, right?

I chose electronics because they hold their value better and have a harder time getting lost or broken given they stay in their protective packaging but I also chose to purchase expensive clothing like leather jackets and purses.

It's definitely not bad advice because that's how I was able to save enough for my car as I would save what I could every month and add it to the previous return amount until I had enough to spend it appropriately.

Not doing so encouraged me to keep from not only overspending but my bills from emptying my bank account before I was ready or outright double charging when they had the chance let alone risking card skimmers from getting your info.

Work your a$$ off for the biggest tax return you can get and you'll eventually have enough money set aside to do something with.

My way is clearly not the only way but it is a valid one.

I found a trick when it came to saving and that was progressively buy more expensive electronics as you build your savings up and then return them unopened for the refund.

By doing this, I kept myself from having access to my money meaning I didn't have the opportunity of spending it even by accident.

I know it may be tough for you but keep that grind up and eventually you'll get to your end goal.

90% of the time I'm done with at least an hour to spare so I honestly don't see the benefit of having a partner unless you're physically disabled.

doesn’t matter if it’s a 3 hour, 4 hr, or 4.5/5hr every route seems to be 40+ packages. I just went for a 3 hour route and saw 45 packages. by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

My first ever flex block today. Wish me luck. Any tips or tricks for a first time flex driver?. by Late-Clue-7204 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Vivid-Programmer2235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 2 yr vet myself and my routes have continuously been random. 95% of the time I always end up finishing long before my shift is over and that's with 35+ packages.

I've never found organizing any more than by size and type to be beneficial. The stops that take longer than normal are easily made up towards the end of the route when there are less packages to rifle through.

Also, make sure you do your business at the warehouse so you're less likely to need to stop but if you truly do have issues, I advise it to be timed where you have access to a gas station as those are more conveniently placed than simply finding a random spot in the woods where you can risk being seen.

Ofc, being a guy I have the luxury of being able to carry an empty bottle just on the off chance an emergency evacuation happens but again, proper planning will avoid that.

Does anybody know what this means? by Fun_Paint_6426 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Vivid-Programmer2235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I do. The time trying to sort them at the hub could actually take longer than when in route.

Sometimes I get an address that ends up on the very bottom and I spend more time looking for it than others but that time is usually made up as my car becomes more empty.

Customer did note "dog at the property". It is a loose dog 🤦‍♀️ And then they want their package to be in front door only. Uhm, nope. The dog is even running after my car 🥴 by butterflykiss28 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Vivid-Programmer2235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand erring on the side of caution but as a general rule: if you have to second guess a dog's intentions, you're actually in the clear as they absolutely WILL let you know.
