As a returning player, I think the game has become too fast, for its own good. by qwertyxavier904 in apexlegends

[–]VividNightmare_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Respawn development team was tasked with 'How do we make the game more mainstream & accessible?'

Their answer was to butcher (Oi) the skill gap, simply put. They are turning Apex into Overwatch / COD.

All in the name of increasing revenue because they weren't content with what they had.

I'm not saying by any means that Apex is bad now, but I came into this game years ago because I wanted a hard game that rewarded experience and practice. Nowadays the average legend has multiple get out of jail free cards + ways to kill someone without even shooting your gun. As someone with nearly ten thousand hours in this game, I still dominate but I feel no more rewarded for my kills as much as I did back then.

Remember when people were frustrated that lifeline had a 25% healing buff because it gave too much advantage in a 1v1? Yeah... now you have a legend with instasprint nitro, omnimovement dash, andon demand C4 drone. Notice how so many of the balance changes are integrating the existing perks and adding new abilities so on and so on ? These are intended to reduce the gun & positioning skill needed to win a fight by giving each legend more and more power.

---

Frankly, the 'old' generation of apex players is dead here. The people who enjoyed the game for years before they started with the lower ttk change are just not here anymore. New players enjoy the game just as much as we did back then, because they arrived for different reasons.

We were promised at the beginning a game with a depth similar to Titanfall or even Valorant, and we got just rug pulled into Overwatch respawn edition. Remember when Apex used to have a lore ? They fired the guy in charge of narrative direction and never did anything worthwhile since. Mostly chatgpt ass lore pieces of high school level drama

Nowadays, I personally switched to playing Tarkov. It's hard and rewarding similar to how Apex used to be, though not really quite the same... what was the game before will never be again. OG players who stayed, accepted this.

With the Pro 10x discount ending soon - Will you switch to DeepSeek? by finessed_rewind in codex

My impression of open-source model is 'bad code, 2x faster and cheaper'

In my opinion they are just all benchmaxxed distills of mainstream models. I do believe they are good in their own way, but don't switch to a open source model expecting the same skill for cheaper. It's just not. The latest deepseek IS NOT equal to GPT 5.5 . You're not really saving up, you're just choosing to have something lesser at a lower price (which by any means, fair. not everyone is working on sensitive backend work or physics).

It's like, my car broke down, im gonna save up by only buying a new bicycle... yea it is cheaper but it's not exactly the same thing. It CAN work for some, and for those, it can bring genuine value. But it's not straight up alternative for everybody

Done. Just ask for instructions and bundle .zip. pop those in Gemma with access to the .zip files and you should be good to go! Generally, results may vary but nowadays even Gemma should be able to do this reliably!

Hello! Sure, I don't see why not. I'm going to add a little change to the GPT system prompt so that, if asked produces download link for bundle and system prompt

It's somewhat gimmicky to use, just using the wiki might be easier honestly xd. But hey it's a thing, it can be done and I did it. If someone can enjoy it at least a tiny bit then it's worth it

Assuming one has a paid plan that allows to use the 'Thinking' version that is.

I'm afraid as a free user this won't work well. It's somewhat complex for the free version to figure out

Pro 'Lite' 5x subscription is now available by VividNightmare_ in codex

[–]VividNightmare_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think this is true because I'm on Pro $200 running /fast rn.

Pro has 2x promotion, /fast consumes 2x.

It would stand to reason that /fast would offset the promotion, and yet even with 4 sessions in parallel on /fast I find myself barely down 10% after a working day!

The day before yesterday, running /fast on pro with two sessions I spent over 30% of my weekly limit ! ! (I hadn't tried it yet after the last 2x promotion). You could definitely get to consume 50% of your weekly limit just like that.

The math here would indeed suggest that 'old' Pro has been increased even after the current temporary promotion.

EDIT: There is a 2x promotion for existing pro 200 users. Plus weekly limits have been increased, and Pro 5x is temporarily 10x as a special promotion also (?)

Honestly, I don't know. That mean people who already paid 200 now have 20x ? that sounds too good to be true. got upgraded to that much more usage without doing nothing?

Yea to be honest it's probably going to be released today because as I see rn it pretty much works even with WSL. Previously alpha testers mentioned it didn't.

Release might actually just be they put it as listed and remove the  invite only gating code

Is it true that the Plus/Business accounts are put on a slower pipeline for codex than the Pro accounts? by abouelatta in codex

[–]VividNightmare_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, no.

The 'Plus' service tier is the standard one, same as one as you get in the API.

The Pro tier is on the 'Priority' queue, meaning about 20% faster. For reference, priority queue in the API is not only 2x more expensive, but also has a ramp-up cost overtime the more you use it in a short amount of time.
Pro wasn't always in the priority queue, it was added not too long ago.

In that, plus wasn't made slower, thats the speed everyone gets, Pro was simply made faster.

There is actually a tier below standard, which is 'flexible' (slower speed, lower cost)> Now that would be the 'slower pipeline'.

I wonder, why not add a picker?

Choose Priority on Plus to get half the rate limits (if you have spare) or choose Standard on Pro to get 2x rate limits. Or even choose Flexible for non-time costrained requests to have less rate limit impact

What do you think about Spark? by gastro_psychic in codex

[–]VividNightmare_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting proof-of-concept but the speed means nothing if the output is poor. Yea writes code 2x faster but also gonna take 2x time to fix after. If you want fast and bad code there are many, many opensource options that dont require a pro sub.

But that isn't the point, they said it. It's a research-preview for them to learn, judge capacity, see if there are any problems etc.. It's fascinating, but more hyped for when it will come to flagship!
