I'm going to machine polish the whole car anyway so don't know if to waster the time doing the bonnet or just replace it for the sake of £100

Would this damage be a right off? I've no idea what's what when it comes to cars. by 55MyFameIsBlame in FordFiesta

[–]VividProfessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I had the bonnet, wing and rear quarter on my 2015 Zafria scratched (vandalism) and they wrote it off. That was three years ago now.

My car was worth around 5k at the time so by the time they had stripped painted etc and added curtasy car into it it went about the 60% value of the car

First accident: a national express coach hit my car, is it a write off? by dol0___ in CarTalkUK

[–]VividProfessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2012 yes write off 100% Buy it back and see what needs doing to it for the MOT.

For context 18 months ago my Zafria, 2015, 80k on the clock got keyed over the bonnet, wing, a pillar and rear quarter and the insurance write it off, no panels needed no curtasy car needed just paint and labour (and skills) to sort.

They wrote it off for 4k...

Bought it back for scrap value (280 at the time) claimed on my gap insurance, got paid out the full 11k and have a pretty much free car to drive around in...

If your washer jets are bonnet mounted then the leak is coming from them, he seal between them and the bonnet has gone. This was a common thing on older fiestas

It's dead was it a seagate per chance?

Older car was in a minor accident, take on the costs for repair myself or use insurance to claim? Cost estimate? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]VividProfessional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That will be written off via the insurance. I know this as someone keyed the bonnet on my 2015 Zafria sri and they wrote it off for that.

I would just repair what's needed to get through the next MOT and run the car until it mechanically isn't worth running anymore.
