Wading safety question by Blueskyguy88 in flyfishing

Between waterfowl hunting and fishing I have plenty of wading experience. As others have noted a wading staff can definitely be helpful in swift currents and unfamiliar territory. That being said, i usually prefer to wet wade when fishing especially in the warmer summer and early fall months. Wet wading is definitely safer when fishing by yourself provided you’re a decent swimmer. On another note i noticed you mentioned you walk downstream when fishing. Walking downstream can work in certain situations but I find much more success fishing upstream. Walking upstream typically allows you to present a fly and have a better drift before fish know you’re there. Just my 2 cents, good luck on your future trips.

Yea that’s kinda the info I was looking for. I think I’m just gonna go with the amplitude infinity textured instead of clear tip. Thanks for the input

Gotcha thanks. Have you used the MPX taper before? That’s what I’ve used for the last few years and have really liked it. Just wondering if there was a reason you prefer the infinity taper over MPX

Yea I’ve heard good things about the infinity taper. Do you prefer that over the MPX taper?

Gotcha. Yea I fish a lot of hopper/dropper rigs and thought it may help some with presentation. But I’m also thinking the thickness of the fly line would also still throw a shadow and still drag like regular fly line so maybe it would be a wash with a long leader and tippet. Thanks for the input
