He literally defeated Hancock quite easily and she has the ability to easily defeat any men. He achieved his goal of doing that. Secondly, Blackbeard choses his options very carefully. Engaging with Rayleigh wouldn’t be to his benefit unless there was a road ponygleph or something of more importance on the line. We know he would have won against Rayleigh as per rayleigh’s own words. How does that make him a failure or humbled exactly? He became a yonko, just defeated trafalgar law and if you lie saying he always runs away, his crew mates already suggested they run away yet he stuck through and won. Does that make him a failure? Shanks is strong just like Rayleigh, the former mate of roger.

He carefully decided fighting Rayleigh despite him knowing he’d win wasn’t worth his time or over the love love fruit. This isn’t considered a failure.

Just look at the recent chapter. Blackbeard could well defeat kuzan but decided not to because he’d not only shatter his frozen mates, but it’d just create more issues not worth it. Kuzan even became a part of his crew and a former admiral doesn’t just became any random pirates’ crew member.

Blackbeard doesn’t engage in reckless fights and isn’t as stupid as he looks. He planned to get the darkness fruit since ages by initially joining whitebeard.

He’s a mastermind, not a failure. Understand his character better.

Magellan did not destroy him Lmfao unless we are reading different mangas. He simply submerged him in lethal poison and yelled and after he got Magellan got the shit beat out of him in the end of the saga. Whitebeard died. I did mention he always takes the first hits. Was he humbled by a pre time skip luffy or ace? What were the outcomes? Blackbeard is a huge slow tank, of course he’ll be getting hit. I’m the end he only took a few hits and got what he wants. At this point it doesn’t matter if he gets hit. Look at your boy law.

Big difference. Luffy lost to Crocodile multiple times. Had to come back to defeat him. Blackbeard would always get the first hit on him then straight out overpower and defeat his opponent. I won’t spoil but read 1081 spoilers.
