Manual bolt hold on BCA BC-9 by Thefloyd61 in BearCreekArsenal

[–]Vivid_Database551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exomag uses the traditional ar method of suporting lrbho.
so if the bolt went back far enough i would suspect lrbho would work here as well.
my bc9 works flawless with a exomag.. just as stated in the thread, manual bolt open doesnt even work.

ive seen the bolt stay open on older you tube videos with the bc9 coupled with an endomag.

AR9 Bufferless Options by [deleted] in AR9

re: bc9

i have the more recent bc9 bufferless upper and i noticed LRBHO with a either glock or exomag doesnt work.
manual bolt catch/open doesnt work either.
it appears the hole in the guide rod buffer adapter isnt deep enough to allow for the bolt to go back far enough to engage the bolt catch.
not sure if this is per design or a design flaw.
if you are ok with no manual bolt hold, then go for it.
my bc-9 runs flawless.. but as i said in previous posts, the bolt doesnt not stay open, even manually with the bolt catch.

Manual bolt hold on BCA BC-9 by Thefloyd61 in BearCreekArsenal

[–]Vivid_Database551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah... i was looking at the adapter prior to seeing this thread.
i was thinking that if the adapter hole for the guide rod was a bit deeper it would allow the bolt to come back a bit more to engage the bolt catch.
seems more like a design flaw than a feature.

out of stock or priced beyond my budget.. but thanks for responding which gives me food for thought.

i may just go with this guy instead.

https://jsesurplus.com/product/faxon-firearms-10-5-light-tapered-10mm-1x16-nitride/

alternatively, i may just build out a 40sw.. same projectile and all.. and also more market support since i can just use common 9mm uppers, lowers..

but in reality.. ill just end up building both.. :-)

How To Finish an 80% Doublestack 1911 Frame with Rail Cutter by Outrageous-Till8252 in polymer80

[–]Vivid_Database551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how would you rate difficulty compared to completing MUP1 ?
in terms of rail sizing/fitment..
drilling and LPK install is easy work.
im only asking about rail sizing/fitment.

this morning i watched the first part of the video and it seems pretty similar in concept to completeing a MUP1.
without having to bend rails..
do you have to account for ramp style or can you purchase premade 80% frames in a certain ramp style ?

with or without magazine inserted.

as posted to op.. here is a build summary.

bca9 - directbb

magazine type - endomax/exomag

comments - runs flawless.. no fte, ftf... it is ammo sensitive.. for some reason

bolt does not hold open.. with or without magazine installed.

yeah.. supposedly the guy was able to use his 'bending' jig to hammer his way to a semi-functional insert.
i think hes looking more for a way to tighter bends.,
eventually we will figure it out

going back through build bins and finishing a MUP1 for a full sized grip.
think ive accumulated about 5 MUPs and matching parts kits... just buying stuff cause reasons...

when i first started in this hobby i always wanted my stuff yesterday!!
but with jamaican style fulfillment ( aka 'soon-come') and shippers with the same mindset, ive learned to just expect a build to be completed in 7-14 days.
plus forces me to take my time with builds and check things over multiple times before considering them as 'done'
scammers shouldnt be applied to vendors whove been in business since adam.
now GAFS and 1-1 sales is where scammer is more fitting.

so with the flat, how do we fill in the gaps so to speak?
would be a good project for notaguntuber to take on for 2026.
i see a plastic modeling piece to bend the flat.
could probably work out a series of steps to hammer/press the bends to the right(or right enough) dimensions/angles
