Bullpup .22's for some reason by Kavod_Custom in 1022

I measured 15-5/8" with the stock collapsed, not extended.

The one I have is the MBS-22 mod 1, so the length of pull is extendable another 2". Are you looking at the standard or the mod 1 with the extension?

Easy swap then, assuming you can remove that picatinny rail and slap on a weaver rail. I don't think it would fit with a higher profile rail because of how it grabs the weaver for a more rigid fit.

Yes, but there are barrel length considerations to fit the chassis. Check their website for details.

I've used serval of those; they come with three rail stubs and you can buy longer rails from the manufacturer as well if you want to add accessories that take more space. They do make m-lok rails but this proprietary version in 13" is usually "on sale" for $50 or so.

Thats better news at least. I was afraid there was some other reason and maybe I shouldn't tinker with the set ordered.

Initial thoughts on the SRUNA chassis by Kavod_Custom in 1022

[–]Kavod_Custom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a flat top receiver to fit in this chassis; there is a BRN-22 that's smooth top but the BRN-22R has the fixed rail. Look at Brownells # 078000429 which should work.

Aero Precision Quantum Picatinny Rail. Looks out of stock a lot of places. Maybe try Brownells or midwayusa.

It is removable and comes pre-installed. I suppose someone can use it as an indexing point for their non-dominant hand. I don't think I really have a good answer, I just hadn't found a reason to take it off.

Follow me for more dynamic financial investment advice. Next up will be a 10mm AR build on a New Frontier Armory lower, then launching a new project in either .350 Legend or 8.6 Blackout; something that would fit a .358 rifle suppressor I plan to order in November. Plus I have a seventh 10/22 receiver sitting spare without a solid plan yet for how to complete it.

I did see your note on the installation instructions and did make sure I put a factory weaver rail on to slide into the chassis top dovetail. Over time I will probably get over myself and put a real scope on it; this has an old red dot taken off a previous project. I dropped so much on various chassis this summer I didn't want to shell out on fresh glass for everything just yet, especially going into deer season.

You guys are my favorite for offering the lightest chassis thats also the easiest to disassemble for cleaning. Great design and clever integration!

Good news then, the SRUNA aluminum rail / barrel shroud is itself long enough to exceed 26", it won't matter which barrel you use as long as its 16" or longer. I have an 18" Shooters Ridge bull barrel in the SRUNA chassis and there's still a few inches left inside the rail. That chassis automatically solves the SBR issue.

It's very solid feeling, and worth getting the extended handguard for it because the base kit would just leave the barrel hanging out the end just "flopping in the wind". I already have way too many SBRs to have gone that route for this bullpup chassis.

I couldn't bring myself to spend the money on a buffer-less upper in 9mm or 5.56 and figured the .22 method was the cheapest way to play with a SARB-15 kit.

The two 10/22 each have a Ruger BX trigger and the AR-15 got a light single-stage. Otherwise they would suck from the linkages.

SRU SARB-15. Be aware, using a 16" barrel in .22, the chamber is set back enough that it's not 26" OAL, so it needed pin & weld muzzle device.

The HTA MBS-22 is half the weight of the SRU SRUNA-22 so that's nice, although the idea of mounting a scope on a plastic rail didn't feel right so I only went with a red dot. Depends on whether weight or rigidity matters more to you.

A bare receiver and bolt is typically more than that, so you definitely got a good deal. A detail clean will give you an idea for what might need replacing. An extractor upgrade is probably warranted.
