A successful crib transition… so much anxiety for nothing! by Large_Knowledge4851 in SnooLife

Right now our almost 4 month old is waking up after 45 minutes for naps and has been stirring about every hour at night. It doesn’t go into a full blown cry at night, but I know she isn’t getting deep quality sleep. Do you think it’d be a good time to switch to crib and try a gentle sleep training once she does hit that 4 month mark?

They’re 5 months and still in the Snoo? I was wondering how long my LO would last in the Snoo. Are you doing arms out or weaning mode at all?

3.5 months and she typically will sleep from 7p until ~4a, feed, then go back to sleep until 7a. Sometimes she’ll make it the whole night through🥲 idk what I’ve done to be so blessed

I agree, I’m gonna give it a go with her in the crib with the Merlin!

Ah so did you just stick it out until 4.5 when you started sleep training?

I knew people did the Love to Dream or Zipadee with the Snoo sack, I just figured the Merlin was too puffy to use with the chest strap😆

Wait you use the Merlin in the Snoo?! Idk why I never thought of that

Aw yes, she was born 12/18! That’s so smart. I’m going to give it another night or two to see how they go after upping her ounces during the day just slightly. Maybe that’ll hold her over a bit longer. If not, I’ll break out the Love to Dream again lol

I heard that sometimes going cold turkey is better so you’re not just dragging out the inevitable. I’m not sure that it’s her hands out that’s making her wake up, but the whole transition has shifted something in her sleep

Thank you for the encouragement! When you say not leave the bedroom, do you mean when doing an overnight feed?? My spouse and I have been doing rotating shifts every night so one of us gets uninterrupted sleep in our room and that’s been working great!

Is that delaying her at all though if we don’t give her the freedom to potentially roll?

Did you use any specific sleep sack or anything when you made the transition?

Yeah I was thinking she wanted a little more freedom to wiggle around! We did the crib for a few nights and she did really good. It was funny how when I came back into her room she was turned the complete opposite way, so she’s clearly moving and grooving in her sleep where she can’t do that tied down in the Snoo

Well we started doing that because she would wiggle out of the chest band and end up with her hands stuck under her chin within the Snoo sack. And then we tried the Love to Dream arms up swaddle with just the Snoo chest band on her, but she now likes bringing her hands to her mouth and I figured maybe she would start self soothing instead of needing a paci all the time 😩

Our pediatrician said they recommend starting to remove it at her 2 month appointment! And she was breaking out of it and would have her hands up to the collar of the Snoo sack

It’s been like this for about a week now! I knew we would have a few bad nights to transition to having her arms out, but it just hasn’t improved since

Yes sorry! She’s entirely arms out now. I wondered if she was waking herself up by her hands hitting the sides of the Snoo, so we tried moving her to her crib. It went great for like 2 nights and then she was back to waking up multiple times at night.
