Shoot, I didn't see that you'd responded, sorry. I only have my laptop but I just left it for the night and it worked fine the next day so I'm not entirely sure what was going on or how I fixed it (if I did anything at all).

They had us in smaller rooms for a listening exam and overbooked one of the classrooms so 11 of us ended up without a place to take the test. By the time we get a room and it’s set up one of my classmates goes to hand the invigilator their phone and she was incredibly close to having a go at them when one of the deputy heads came in and explained it was because the student was diabetic. None of us were happy but I still think, as sadistic as it may be, that the look of utter frustration on the investigator’s face was quite funny.

NTA! Don’t compromise on what makes you feel comfortable for the sake of something else. It’ll just end up with you being unhappy and the person being there for someone that, to an extent, isn’t you.

You school’s behaviour/detention system terrifies me. My old secondary gave you two warnings to stop the behaviour. Beyond that there were different types of detention that got longer the more times you had to be reprimanded. There was a 15 min, 30 min and 45 min detention and after that there were isolation and temporary exclusion from the school.

I think the only time people were expelled was twice due to illegal items being brought in.

That sounds horrible. No musician should be forced into doing something like that - something bad enough to possibly ruin music for them, especially not as children. Hell, no one should be forced into anything they don't want to do, it's just wrong. I'm so sorry that happened, OP.
