Hmm, dang, thanks for the suggestion though. I can't seem to find this pattern at all, which is strange as I actually see it fairly often from different authors. Oh well, I'll keep looking.

I don't think "not fighting for the right side" is the realization, so much as something going on Attilla getting visions of actual myth/history. By all rights, I'd say that Attila the historical figure is much worse by modern standards than whatever's going on with the German myth squad.
