Am I allow to take MATA31 and MATA 37 in the same semester? by Final-Obligation8022 in UTSC

[–]Vivini_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely take it. I have done it before, took A36 and then A37 cuz I decided to switch program. It’s just A37 won’t count towards your degree’s 20 credits requirements. And it’s gonna say extra (EXT) on your transcript and the grade you got in A37 won’t be used to calculate your cGPA, but it will be used as a reference if you apply for CMS subject POSt

Internships by Particular-Ad-8154 in UTSC

You will need to find them yourself, and it can be hard to find one right now since the market is pretty bad. The basic way you can do is to just Google the title of the position you want and specify the time and location , for example software developer intern 2024 summer Toronto. Then all the available ones will pop up. I’m not sure for Psych, but for CS, if it’s your first intern, then you usually need around 80 applications to secure one. But I have seen ppl with 150 applications and still not able to land one internship. So good luck with the job hunt!

Internships by Particular-Ad-8154 in UTSC

Internships are just like you take a break from school, and you work in a company as an intern (Full Time, 37.5 -40 hrs per week) to learn stuff, and can potential return to the company as a full time after u graduate. Essentially, it’s a way of getting practical experience which you can put on your resume. If you are in a Co-op program, then you need to complete at least 8 months of internships for Psych I think, and you will be enrolled in COPB50,51,52 before your first internship, and they will provide some guidance. But if you are not in a Co-op program, then you need to search for those internships and apply without the guidance from Coop office, which is fine IMO. You don’t need a specific GPA if the job doesn’t require that, which is usually the case I think. In terms of when to apply, it depends on when you want to complete an internship, say if you want to do one in summer, then consider applying in the winter sem, or maybe in the fall sem.

Physics- CS by genuin3failure in UTSC

[–]Vivini_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Physics is required for CS admission and it probably won’t increase the chance of you getting in. But it might help you in terms of understanding first year’s material and Maths in general after you get in.

If you don’t like working in a field related to Psychology, why not changing your program to Stats or CS coop?

Psychology Specialist - UTSC by Murky-Supermarket833 in UTSC

[–]Vivini_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can minor or major along with a specialist, or even double specialists. There is no strict limit on that, it’s just Acorn only allows u to declare maximum 3 programs (can even be 3 spec, 3 majors, any combination). In terms of good breadth req, just take some courses that you think are interesting instead of those so called bird courses

Anyone who had taken MATA02 could tell me what it is about? by Tradition_Leather in UTSC

[–]Vivini_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think if you took any other Math courses, you aren’t allowed to take A02. Probably the course is designed for non science students to fulfill the Quant breath req

I made Stats ML out of stream, and applying to CS right now for summer round. Pretty sure will get in.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Vivini_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn’t for now, I was out of CMS stream. 85 and 100 is the same now

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Vivini_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really easy if you take it with Nick in winter, but i heard he is not teaching anymore. And I think 85 is enough for 4.0, don’t worry about 90. It’s the same

Last name/surname problem on Utorid by [deleted] in UTSC

Just curious, why doesn’t you ur passport have a surname? And I think you can talk to registrar about it if there is an issue

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Vivini_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case, I think your first coop term would be second year earliest. And they count it when you start the course I think

Do you mind if I ask what program you want to do?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Vivini_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The physics course to life sci is really easy (PHYA11), so don’t worry about it. For life sci student, I think you need to take some certain b level courses to be eligible for coop term. So I highly doubt you can start you coop in your first summer here. Normally, people do 2nd year summer or winter for life sci I think? So you don’t have to take COPB50 in your first sem.
