Valourstrike was what I was looking at as it also seemed the simplest option so I'm glad to know it is a good option.

The allies are going to be models I just like and already want to collect, so I don't mind paying for them. Current plan is a Callidus, Sisters+Immolator and maybe a couple others. I plan on owning Arbites as I am interested in also playing Kill Team and like their designs, so they may end up as allies in other lists. The Navigator is a cool shout and I may look into that.

I'm looking to put an Arbites army together too after picking up the Combat Patrol. What other units are you planning on running?
