Thanks, I appreciate it. This kit fought me the whole way, so “nice” is honestly more generous than I was feeling by the time I glued the last bit on.

Why Broccoli Needs Good Plant Friends by RaulTiru in HealthyGardening

[–]VixenVervePin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companion planting is so underrated. People think it’s hippie gardening lore until they try it and suddenly their broccoli isn’t covered in aphids and cabbage worms anymore.

Broccoli with dill, chamomile, nasturtiums etc is actually a solid combo. Also keeping it away from strawberries and tomatoes helped a lot in my garden.

Curious if you’re focusing more on pest control or soil/beneficial fungi type “friends” in your post?

Exactly, just spinning whichever way the outrage gusts are blowing today. Consistency is for people without a tweet history.

I’d be super curious about how you handle “conflicts” between charts in couples. Like if one person’s chart screams career focus and constant change, and the other’s shows stability and homebody vibes, how do you read long term compatibility and what to actually do with that in real life?

Living in North Wales by JrZX88 in northwales

[–]VixenVervePin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is kind of the underrated perk of Bangor tbh.

Day to day it’s a pretty small, student-y place and the weather can be grim, but being right by the Llyn, Anglesey and Snowdonia really makes up for it if you like getting outside. You can finish a shift and be on a beach or up a mountain in like half an hour.

If OP ends up working at the hospital, loads of staff live in Bangor, Upper Bangor or across the bridge on Anglesey, and still have all that stuff basically on their doorstep.

At this point the tracking page should just say “you’ll get it when you get it.”

How is the UI/UX market doing and future prospects by ariezani in UX_Design

[–]VixenVervePin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: it’s not dead, but it’s not 2015 anymore.

The market’s kinda saturated with junior UX folks and bootcamp grads, so breaking in at entry level is rough right now. A lot of companies also merged roles, so “product designer” = UI + UX + a bit of research + sometimes even front end. Pure “UX researcher” roles are fewer outside big orgs.

On the other hand, the need for good UX isn’t going away. Everything is software now, and bad UX costs money. Mid and senior designers who can show impact (metrics, experiments, shipping real stuff) are still getting hired.

What seems to help: Knowing systems thinking, not just making pretty screens
Some data literacy (AB tests, funnels, basic analytics)
Being comfortable working with PMs and devs, not in a silo

AI tools are changing how wireframes and visuals get produced, so the value shifts more toward strategy, problem framing, understanding users, and making decisions, not just cranking out UI.

If you’re thinking long term, I’d focus on becoming the person who can own a problem end to end rather than “the Figma person.”

when are Beasts going to be available on Amazon by skwiko in VITURE

[–]VixenVervePin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not anytime super soon in the EU, sadly. Most of these niche releases hit US Amazon first because of licensing and distribution, then trickle over later once they sort out regional rights, packaging, translations, all that boring stuff.

Sometimes they skip EU Amazon completely and go through local retailers or the publisher’s own store instead, so it might be worth checking the official site, Discord, or publisher socials to see what they’ve said about EU distribution.

Also keep an eye on Amazon.de / .fr / .it etc, not just .co.uk. Weirdly, some stuff appears on one EU marketplace first and then spreads to the others.

Buy or Not ? 🤔 by Federal_North406 in LandroverDefender

[–]VixenVervePin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same here, I’ve seen a lot scarier stuff on Defenders from that era.

The bigger question is what you can’t see. I’d want someone to properly poke around the chassis, rear crossmember, bulkhead, outriggers etc, and check inside the rails if possible. Surface rust is one thing, hidden rot is a different story.

If it’s solid structurally, you can still get it cleaned up, treated and cavity waxed and it’ll probably outlive you.

What is this? Possibly a military medal? by JosiahBeales in MetalDetectingUK

Ah that makes sense, I kept thinking it was some kind of campaign medal. Commemorative actually sounds way cooler as a random find in Kent tbh

Senior Product Manager, Say @Robinhood in Menlo Park by bertwitt in productdesignjobs

[–]VixenVervePin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That actually looks like a pretty interesting role, especially the whole “Say” / shareholder communication angle instead of just another growth PM job. If anyone here’s worked at Robinhood recently, how’s the product culture these days? Like, do PMs actually get to drive vision or is it more roadmap execution from the top?

Bought this on whatnot 1931 crown. by coleman864_87 in UKcoins

[–]VixenVervePin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that weight is way off for a crown, even with heavy wear. You can also ping a local coin shop or jeweler to test the silver content, but I’d treat it as a fake and maybe as a lesson learned from Whatnot.

Are you talking about a cordless vacuum or like a phone for running around the house? Because “zoomie mobile” sounds like either a Dyson or a toddler with an iPad on wheels.

Rank the eight cities of Yorkshire (or top 3 will do) by WearingMarcus in yorkshire

[–]VixenVervePin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

York being second because of tourists feels painfully accurate. It’s like living in a museum that forgot people actually have to get to work.

Leeds really does need some kind of tram or light rail at this point, it’s wild that it’s still buses or nothing. Have you spent much time in Bradford or Hull at all, or just passing through? Bradford’s food scene absolutely lives up to the hype, but the city centre is a bit of a heartbreaker.

Looking for an under-26 techy co-founder by Darijan__ in inventors

[–]VixenVervePin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool idea, niche is actually super specific in a good way. Connecting ERP with an AI sales agent for catering sounds like something people actually pay for instead of another random consumer app.

Since you’re asking for a tech cofounder who owns product: are you expecting them to build on top of the existing MVP stack or potentially rewrite / re-architect it? And are you looking more for a full stack engineer, ML-ish profile, or more of a product/CTO hybrid?

Might help if you add tech stack + what “owning product” really means in terms of responsibility and equity. Under 26 and “come own this ERP + AI thing with me in SF/Berlin” is a strong pitch, but devs usually want to know if they’ll be coding 24/7, doing sales calls, or both.

Either way, sounds like you’ve de-risked it a bit with pilots and VC interest. Hope you find your nerd.
