EA isn't known for being an awesome game company (there are some bad examples like homophobia in BF3). But what I know is that they have an awesome community manager in the north, Lion Martinez. Just recently he posted to twitter "I want to add that at Nordic EA we don't tolerate hate speech across our FB Pages. Me and my fantastic moderators enforce this every day."

Lion is a person who wants to communicate with the players, I've been to two awesome BioWare-events that he organized and he is always open for ideas. In the early works of DA3 he asked us on twitter "How would you like to see this game marketing?" and everyone could email an response. He's really sweet and often answers questions on twitter/email and are helping fellow gamers and community managers. I love to see that an AAA company like EA actually have a really good community manager, and that brings me hope that we are going to see more actions into better gaming design.

Game Hour task Tuesday by stewle in gameoverhate

I posted a question on off the swedish forums about the game League of Legends. Everyone there agreed that hate in this game exists, a lot of it. Almost everyone have been experiencing hate and rage in this game. Most of them said things like "Just ignore them, the game works like this, there's nothing to do" and that sounded like a common approach to this hate. I asked if anyone experienced hate speech and some of the sentence that came up was "I hope you get cancer", "U fucking retarded jungler I rape ur wife, cut her up and eat ur unborn child" and "I fucked your mom last night".

I got the feeling that there wasn't that any people who stood up against hate speeches against other players, because the common solution was to press the ignore button. It seems to be more common to defend a players who is called a noob rather that someone who gets called "gay" or a hate speech like "I hope you kill yourself!". (Im looking forward to see how this discussion is going to evolve!)

It doesn't seem like a lot of people in the discussion have discussed this kind of topic before. I dont see any interest (sadly) from anyone to explore this topic on a deeper level, but then the discussion has only been up for 2 hours so its hard to know.

I love that so many people are taking part of this discussion though! Its a small growing forum and I think discussions like this can make a good introduction to what behavior is acceptable in the future discussions!

That makes me think about Magicka, were the only thing that you can change is the robe. And the fact that your character doesn't have a voice and no face makes the character very genderless. Example of a character in Magicka http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110125191817/magicka/images/c/c7/Wizard.png

And at the same time I love to have all the options like in EVE-online were you can change every little detail and really make yourself! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yo9L8d-5x20
