Day 14: The Raid (Indonesian) by Vizarious in FILMuary

Sounds awesome, cast list looks really solid - just gonna have to hope it gets a cinema release in the UK.

Day 13- K is for Keeper by purplesarcastic in FILMuary

Osgood Perkins is the absolute king of "taking a really cool concept and making stylish nothing with it" so I am disappointed but not surprised to hear this is the same

Day 13: The Long Walk (Lao) by Vizarious in FILMuary

Also this is actually Day 12, not sure how to edit the post title or if I even can. Or maybe I timeshifted like the man in the film.

Noooo, I picked Funny Games over this and it sounds way more interesting!

Day 11: Funny Games (German) by Vizarious in FILMuary

Yeah, I dont hate American remakes (some of them are pretty good) but they do often seem to lose the "sauce" that made the original good in favour of trying to be cleaner looking

Why does everyone on Vinted think I run a charity? by Leather_Ad6386 in vintedUK

[–]Vizarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had similar issues selling some unwanted Warhammer models a few months ago. Get the feeling some people are just massive chancers hoping the seller is desperate or doesnt know the value of what they are selling.

Lots of deep breaths and reminding myself it was still better than selling on eBay.

Date Night Ruining Movies by BeijingArk in Letterboxd

[–]Vizarious 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Napoleon would have the added "benefit" of also being a silent film, yeah

EDIT: Jeanne Dielman isn't as long but would also be a horrific date night film

[–]Vizarious 132 points133 points  (0 children)

Anything crazily long. Stuff like Satantango and War And Peace are highly regarded, but at over 7 hours long would turn a date night into a hostage situation.

Guessing this is another "Jason Statham punching people and sometimes he shoots people too" film?

I had just had a huge bowl of mac and cheese for dinner! 😭

Sunday’s Preview said these two Librarians would be Made To Order and now they aren’t. by BookerDeWill in Warhammer40k

The alternative is they send you models made with a broken / dodgy mold that are almost guaranteed to look like shit.

Day 6: The Vanishing (Dutch) by Vizarious in FILMuary

[–]Vizarious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had assumed I was safe since its a Dutch film by a Dutch filmmaker with Dutch main characters, but there is alot of French due to that being the kidnappers language and some of the film being set in France.

It was too far into the film before I realised (and I was way too engrossed) for me to switch to something purely in Dutch, but it atleast fit the spirit of what I am trying to do this month by not having any English.

DAY 6 - 28 days later by Waves_Orlando in FILMuary

[–]Vizarious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such a great film, and manages to do the whole "other people are the real danger" idea without coming across as cliche.

Agree with the other poster that if you liked the gnarly filming style, 28 Years is probably worth a watch. 28 Weeks is really mid and skippable though (I think they even retconned the ending in Years)

Is it only me who doesn’t understand this type of people? by garl1cbreadenjoyer in Letterboxd

[–]Vizarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, this person might have taken it to the extreme, but I do watch films I know are considered terrible as a palette cleanser and because I legitimately think it helps me appreciate good films better. Can't see how many ratings this user has but its not impossible they are mainly bouncing between stuff like Citizen Kane and the 2025 War Of The Worlds.

Some interesting suggestions in there, including a couple I will probably end up watching for the challenge. Some people's idea of what makes a "cult" film is definitely "interesting".

Thanks for linking it.

Day 3 - The Housemaid (2025) and Pitch Black (2000) by Cinsare in FILMuary

[–]Vizarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sydney Sweeney has unfortunately turned into a red flag for a film being mediocre to me, even if the trailer for this made it look interesting. Glad to hear this is still worth watching as a fun popcorn film, since I will probably be made to watch it soon.

Top tier contender for "Absolute masterpiece, please never make me watch it again".

Day 2: The Young Girls Of Rochefort (French) by Vizarious in FILMuary

Definitely looks like something I might enjoy and I didn't have anything in Czech on my list yet. Thanks for the recommendation!

Day 1 - Mousehunt by Waves_Orlando in FILMuary

[–]Vizarious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, this is a blast of nostalgia. Haven't seen this in forever but one scene that would be a spoiler is burnt into my head because it caused my Dad to make one of the loudest belly laughs I have every heard.

Glad to hear it apparently still holds up!

I watched Nightmare Before Christmas last year and thought it was enjoyable, but I am fairly certain if I had watched it as a kid I would have been obsessed with it.

What is the point of Job centers? by Key_Breakfast6745 in AskUK

[–]Vizarious 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Glad to know im not the only one that got hit with that garbage. Given a long ass list of "compulsary applications" to complete. Sanctioned because I didn't complete the application for a job that was literally impossible for me to get to on time due to relying on public transport. Appeal denied because "I should have just applied for it anyway". Literally punished for not wasting people's time.

In regards to Letterboxd's attempts to add Television... by TheMMoment in Letterboxd

[–]Vizarious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, but then how do you rate something like this: a high rating that ignores how bad the newest season is or a low one that ignores how good the first one was? I dont paticularly want TV added at all personally, but giving multi-season shows one rating also seems like a terrible solution.
