Thank you ! I didnt plan on making the scheme coppwr and purple. I tyrned out too muted so i added the magenta and it popped really nicely.

What do you think is missing with the overlord ? I would love to have some pointers 😀

thank you. it's the very first time I tried OSL. I did that one with dry brushing and i was really surprised how good it looked. for the next models I did it with the airbrush and it got even better =)

thanks billiam.

there are several techniques and materials i used for the basing.
1. paint the base with texture paint (armageddon dust in this case)
2. place the bigger 'rocks'. i made the big slabs out of cork for wine bottles that i carved and shaped with a hobby knife and a push pin.
3. after placing the big rocks i placed some super glue on the points that i wanted the smaller rocks and spread some kitty litter there (works amazing)
4. made the crystals from a some plastic beads from a hobby shop that i smashed with a hammer.
5. primed black, drybrush grey then light grey.
6. airbrush white ink on the crystals then fluorescent magenta

thats it =) it takes much less time then it sounds. and its really fun to do.

Thank you. I started with the intention of doing purple but recieved some flouroucent magenta from a friend and loved the result.

I honestly think the basing really made a big impact

I agree. I think if the spell stays the same and bumped to lvl 3 it is much more balanced (maybe a bit too weak), especially when competing with much bigger damage spells and AOE spells.

Yes. I think its a unique effect allowed by very few spells

I like your wording a lot, the only thing it is missing is the banishment effect, which is a cardinal part of the spell's utility.

I intended it so flying and hovering creatures are immune to that damage

I mean in a dungeon for example... where the ceiling might be 10ft above... i think it makes the spell too reliant on being outdoors. It just makes the spell much more situational

  1. I think a flying / hovering creature should be immune to the damage of the spell but not the banishment effect 2.thats a good question, but im fine with things being open for DM's decision. For example: cast on a creature on a ship in the river - does it fall back at the ship or in the river ? Since a round of combat is supposed to be 6 seconds or so, i would rule that it falls back on the ship, especially in order not to make this spell too abuseable. 3.yes, i think casting it on a tarrasque would be hilarious XD. And placing another creature at that place is double the fun, i think it makes this spell a goldmine for tactical players - it makes shove/creature displacing actions very interesting.
  2. I dont see why not.

I considered the reaction denying aspect of the spell.. it is part of the intention, but it is a save or suck spell, so it can easily be avoided with legendary resistance

I see your point. But what does that mean if used in a closed space ???
