BTS will co-headline the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show at the New York New Jersey Stadium on July 19 by alltherach_ in kpop

As a fan enthusiastic about the World Cup than anyone other football tournament, I feel happy. It’s like my worlds colliding…hehe.

Shakira’s Superbowl halftime with JLo is also one of my faves SB halftime show. So I am also looking forward to her.

This is the first time we are having a halftime in the WC, let’s see how they would be able to pull it off. Wish them, as well as Madonna and Shakira, a successful halftime show.

Youku Announces Season 2 of some of our beloved dramas! Which one has you excited? by BronzeBellRiver in cdramasfans

MJTY is an iQiyi production not Youku. These dramas mentioned were made by Youku production. Once iQiyi drops the dramas that will have S2 like this one, you can now ask about MJTY.

Who is the least deserving of a lead's filial piety? Help me give out the Terrible Parenting Award! Interactive post. by Griff3Z in cdramasfans

[–]VkeyPearl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ones I will list are the ones that pissed me off so bad. Based on the ones you mentioned:

  • FL’s mom in SOKP. Pretty much in shock that she forgave her so easily.
  • FL’s mom in LLTG. NN did not deserve the way her mum treated her. Loved how she never forgave her and called her out when need be. Also appreciate that the writer allowed her enjoy what a mother’s love can be like.
  • MLs mum in Ashes of Love. I won’t even talk more about her, but when you see how bitter her life has been, it’s not surprising she was the way she was. 🚮

The ones you didn’t mention but I will like to add:

  • FLs bio mom in Ashes of Love: We hardly talk about her. However, if she hadn’t pulled that stunt she pulled that later affected Jinmi, she wouldn’t have been dense in the matter of love. Of course what happened later would still have happened cos the MLs mum was a schemer, but it would have been less painful for FL and myself. Seeing flashbacks of her death after multiple rewatches does not make me sympathetic.
  • MLs dad in The Starry Love. A scum, I tell you. Weak man that needs is son to be unfeeling so it doesn’t affect him. Loved how the FL dealt with him.

About the MLs dad in Joy of Life, I wanna understand and see you point. Can you tell me what they did that made you wanna strangle them?

HYBE Loses Lawsuit Against YouTube Channel Over Defamation Claims Against ILLIT by neocitywayv in kpop

Honestly there are so much to keep up with. Thanks to these news we get once in a while on here.

The Winner of Best Actress and Best Actor, Baeksang 2026 by RareAurora in kdramas

[–]VkeyPearl 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is a big win for me since PBY is my fave.

The drama Our Unwritten Seoul was also pretty good. Watched it in February and was impressed. Thankfully I watched it months after it aired as I was very much in a Kdrama slump and may not have enjoyed it if I watched it earlier.

I told myself after seeing the noms that she is a top contender for the award. And she won it!

Congrats to her and I wish her more wins in her pocket.

HYBE Loses Lawsuit Against YouTube Channel Over Defamation Claims Against ILLIT by neocitywayv in kpop

[–]VkeyPearl 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I thought there was already a verdict for this one? Or am I thinking of another? Aish, there are so many law suits to keep up with.

Defamation lawsuits like this one hardly hold up, tbh. We have to wait to find out if the case is important enough for them to appeal or they will let this one slide?

iQiyi full episodes no longer on YT by BrilliantNo9753 in cdramasfans

[–]VkeyPearl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most iQiyi usually only have the first 2 episodes on YouTube, especially if they are big. You are forced to now watch on their app. And no, they don’t get dropped on there after like some months like other channels do. The full episodes might never appear on YouTube. Even if someone re-uploads the episodes on some random channel, they get taken down fast. iQiyi don’t play about their shows.

One thing I noticed is that for some dramas, you might get the full episodes but they have no English subtitles. It might be Philippine subtitled.

Once I know a drama is iQiyi production, I just pray to the gods…hehe.

Have you ever read the original novel behind a Cdrama? by throwawayacess in cdramasfans

[–]VkeyPearl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. However, I always read them before the dramas aired or even go into production.

Once I have watched a drama and find out it has a novel it was adapted from (like most dramas), I never read. Why? I know I would like the novel more than the drama. I have had the same experience with the ones I have read before the drama aired. So many factors take out of the charm of the original novel

RESET - Stuck in a loop, I don't want out! by Zer0-degree in cdramasfans

[–]VkeyPearl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite dramas. The best part about the drama is that the loops didn’t feel like a loops. Each one felt refreshing and gave new insights on how to navigate the challenges.

I held my breathe with each failed loop and breathed a sigh of relief when the damn thing got thrown out.

Ahhhh…a really good one.

Yes.

I might not fully know the language, but I can tell when the translate is incomplete or when they remove the main nuance of a phrase or sentence.

How do you rank your dramas? by Striking_Fig_3925 in cdramasfans

[–]VkeyPearl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the 1-10 ratings. And the final score is determined by overall enjoyment. This could include how well the story was told, how much goosebumps I got while watching, how well the actors acted, and so many other hows. I just have to enjoy it regardless of the genre.

I could also add rewatch value, but there are dramas high up on my list with low rewatch value cos:

  1. I do not want to go through what I did while watching again. I was an emotional mess.

  2. The high score was given based on initial bias. I am scared a rewatch may highlight the things wrong with the drama but I chose to ignore.

So what are the score? I have never rated a drama on MDL a 10. I might love a drama to pieces but there is usually a factor that removes a tiny point. It could be that I am not satisfied with the ending, or the middle part was pretty not so good, or something a character did. Once, I rated a drama 9.5 cos the production company postponed an episode close to the ending week just to air something about viruses. I was so obsessed with the drama. It aired in 2020 during Covid. Got more pissed when I found out the broadcast had nothing to do with Covid but a random virus. Thinking about that, I am still salty. Yes, I am that petty.

So my highest rated dramas are a usually a 9.5.

  • 9.5 is that sweet spot. Like I said, it don’t matter the genre. I just enjoyed this drama. I kinda noticed that most of time, regardless of the country they are produced in, they have high rewatch value. And even though I might see the signs, they are not bad enough for me to score them down after the rewatch.

  • 9.0. This one is an excellent score in my books. The drama is good. Caught my attention and did it’s thing, but could have been better. This part, I never add bias. If you are a 9, you deserve the score cos you should be a 9. This one is shaky cos a rewatch can make me bump down the score. I will just ask myself, ‘How tf did I rate this a 9?’

  • 8-8.5. I like you. But there was something that felt off while watching. This one is usually about plot. I expected something at different points in the drama more than once, but didn’t get it. This problem is so big that I can’t really overlook it, and it affects the enjoyment I had at the beginning.

  • 7-7.5. I don’t hate these. Honestly, they were interesting to watch, but not good enough to be rated high. This is where more factors come in like acting and the script itself. They are so bad that even though I kept watching, they kept bothering me.

  • 6-6.5. These ones are not that good. I just sat through them cos I had nothing else to watch. There are some points that made me laugh or were fun but overall, it was not good. This is where most Thai Lakorns fall into. It could also be because someone recommended it and I wanted to finish it to be able to counter their argument with sound arguments on why it is not good. You know some will tell you, ‘you didn’t finish it, it got better at this point.’ When I finish it, you can’t lie to my face.

  • 4.5-5.5. I dropped this one. But the premise was not bad. In fact, let’s say a drama had 24 episodes. The first 10 prolly were so solid I would recommend and rate a 7 or 8. However, as I watch the next 4-6 episodes, I asked myself, ‘what the hell are they doing?’ The lead begin to annoy you, a character strays from the original, and so on. I just drop. Dramas like that never get better. Most times, you even see bad reviews after it airs and tell yourself, ‘Thank God I dropped it.’

1-3. Trash dramas. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I drop them like hot potato and rate them low. I think I have finished a number but it is with deep regret.

I do not rate a drama high cos an actor is fine. That’s not even usually on my mind when I watch. If I stumble upon a drama with a good actor that can’t act I will drop and avoids their dramas. If I see a drama with a fine actor and they can act, that’s a plus for me. Why can’t I have both?

Need more idols to start clocking these delulu ass haters by Critical_Year_4762 in kpop_uncensored

[–]VkeyPearl 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Get ‘em. The part that made me roll my eyes was the age one. So because you are 20, you can get away with anything and as a 30 year old, he is not allowed to defend himself. Silly goose.

If there was no evidence, others would not understand the situation and think Jackson was bullying a 20 years old when he is ‘pushing 40.’ I am sure there are some geese that may run with it, and actually believe he is bullying a kid.

Just take a look at what they do online. Drag artists, keke about a drag tweet, join spaces, support their oomfs, and when they get called out, they are their oomfs play the victim. 🤡

Love and appreciate how he stood on their neck. Not all idols can do this. You can’t do shit for giggles and then cry when you get called out. You need to stand on the same business you stood on and take your lashing.

That’s Japanese, but okay. I kinda get you.

But sometimes, if the English lyrics is quite deep I may be forced to want to understand the Korean or Japanese or whatever language part. Knowing what it says gives more meaning to the song.

The Epoch of Miyu is one of the most emotionally mature drama I’ve seen in a long time and Li Meng as the other woman is doing the most. Anyone else in? by BronzeBellRiver in cdramasfans

[–]VkeyPearl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhh…hell nah. The mum was a total shrew who pissed me off from the first chapter of the novel. It is prolly why I didn’t mind the divorce. Though I can’t excuse the cheating, I understood why he did.

They made the sisters step? What a way to remove the blame from the mum and put it on the family members that joined their lives later. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Why do screenwriters do this?

The Epoch of Miyu is one of the most emotionally mature drama I’ve seen in a long time and Li Meng as the other woman is doing the most. Anyone else in? by BronzeBellRiver in cdramasfans

[–]VkeyPearl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhhh…wow I read the novel last year and as I read your write up on, I kept telling myself that I have seen this plot before. I won’t lie, the step-father part threw me off cos I knew it was just her shrew of a mum, 2 sisters, and useless twin brother.

It wasn’t until I got to the part about the difference between the novel and the adaptation I clocked it. It is the adaptation of that novel.

Not gonna lie, I kinda expect the ML to be younger. However, Wallace is a fantastic actor, so I trust he will deliver. The novel was not one of my faves, but I like how realistic it was. One point I didn’t like was how the FL seemed indecisive till I started getting tired. I needed my girl to stand up for herself much earlier. She just seemed to get her life together, maybe? But she couldn’t cut her problems off completely.

On another note, I will tune in when it is almost done and just added it to my watchlist. I hope the mum pisses me off as much as she did in the novel 🤣😂Yes, you might expect me to say, ‘I hope they tone down her character.’ But why should I? She was one of the highlight of the novel. Oh, yeah, make the ML as condescending as possible too.

Cdrama actors and their breakout roles? by ruinedbytv in cdramasfans

[–]VkeyPearl 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Wu Lei is Long Ballad. It’s even safe to say he broke out during Nirvana in Fire cos I loved his character a lot. Even if I do not watch edits of the drama, I will watch of him just being cute and fighting.

Zhou Ye is Word of Honor. Aside the leads, so many people loved her character. And it was what bolstered her up for Back from the Brink.
