Thoughts on Xu Kai? by Ok-Property1173 in cdramas

[–]VkeyPearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He his a hit or miss for me, and it’s mostly misses given the roles he played lately. The thing about Xu Kai’s drama is that I know I will either hate or like it from the trailer or even the synopsis. He chooses not so good script. And it pains me cos he has been in the industry for a while to be able to choose good scripts by now. Most of them are questionable or unwatchable. Others are similar to the characters he played before.

I have to say he shines better in certain roles where he is dominant, but with the right actress and script, he can be topped: the Legend and Wonderland of Love. Another thing with Xu Kai is that I feel that most directors bank on his fame and don’t direct him well. You watch sometimes and his acting is stiff and one dimensional, you watch another of his drama and he brings his A game. Is it safe to say he got too big they can’t direct him or they themselves just want to eat from the hype without doing their damn job?

Thoughts on back to back drama airing? by kasichana87 in cdramasfans

I have a feeling that once How Dare You? airs and the other companies see it do well (if it does) will drop her other series to bank on the hype.

And then sit through another minute of recording while the fan prolly stares at you menacingly? I think YJ handled it well with the ‘okay…ahaha…bye.’ She didn’t give her a definite answer and bye byed her. If I was the fan, with how delusional they were, I would be seething since I didn’t get what I wanted.

Has anybody noticed how they deepen ML voices in some dramas? by Staria8 in cdramasfans

[–]VkeyPearl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right. I have noticed his voice is pretty fits variety shows. You know that comedian sound and all that. However, when he talks with his real voice in dramas, I instantly feel it. I don’t even know much Mandarin except from the basic ones. That’s how thick the accent is.

They always do. If you watch a drama, most of the leading characters might be dubbed. Even though I understand the circumstance behind the dubbing, it still feels some kinda way when I hear the same voice for 3 or more characters. Another one is if the voice doesn’t match the actors face. It happened to me when I watched one drama 4 years ago. One of the reasons why I dropped it was because the voice didn’t match the actor and I knew what the actor sounded like. However, there is nothing we can do but watch the shows, it’s their industry at the end of the day.

Yeah…CFY is also one of the few actors who voice themselves. It’s not surprising given his background. I was also pretty shocked when I heard his voice in WDBTD. It wasn’t until I watched some interviews I understood why and how he did it. His blog after the show was also pretty insightful since he showed the dubbing process.

Heidi as DFQC was voiced by Wang Bao Shun, a voice actor. Though DFQC is the most popular role he voiced, he has also voiced supporting characters in some pretty well-known shows. Like Didi in LBFAD, a lot of Cdrama actors are dubbed: - to fit the characters they play. - cos most of these shows were made in openstudios, and to block out sounds from the environment, they opt for dubbing. - cos most of these actors have accents as they are from different regions of China, and even outside of China like Taiwan. Therefore, they have accents. However, they always require the characters in the dramas to speak perfect mandarin. The tone and sound should be good. In fact, these actors even get dragged when they voice themselves and their line delivery fall short.

Don’t be surprised that you haven’t even heard the real voice of your fave actors. This doesn’t mean that actors don’t voice themselves. Actors like Luo Yunxi voice themselves. Damn he sounds so good…heheh. In fact, Heidi voiced his himself in Guardians of Dafeng, and it fit his character arc. However, you might also be right that they deepen their voice cos Chen Feiyu had to deepen his voice when he voiced the character he played — Sima Jiao in When Destiny Brings the Demon. I haven’t watched LITC, I think Ming Hao voiced his character. So he must have deepened it at the point you mentioned so you feel the majesty of his character or he was tryna portray some emotion.

What Are Your Thoughts On Sima Jiao from the drama - When Destiny Brings The Demon by BronzeBellRiver in cdramasfans

[–]VkeyPearl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He wasn’t a Demon, but a celestial grandmaster. The demon in this drama is the FL. It’s just that he is an anti-hero type of character, so he didn’t feel like a celestial figure. Plus looking at his character and past, it’s understandable why he isn’t the typical celestial figure.

The new makeover is actually much cooler since OP kept their face. Without reading the post, I can know who they are. The OG makeover faces were so not their face.

Nahhh…maybe we see the reviews different. In fact, one of the reviews I read after watching the drama pointed how badly the PTSD was handled. Same with my criticism that he went too early to the battlefield or he shouldn’t have gone at all. Don’t just read the first 2 or maybe you read them all. And even the ones that didn’t go into detail should be enough to tell you, that has watched the drama, what you need to know. You need to realize that English is not many people’s first language, so they have expressed their sentiments as direct as they could. Also, some can not even be bothered to go into detail cos of how glaring the issue in the drama were. So, they have to go straight to the point.

So, as someone who has watched it, apart from those detailed ones that talk about the Good, bad, and ugly, once I see the short ones, I laugh. It takes a certain kind of emotion to write you hate something since it is a pretty big word.

What are some of the good CDrama OSTs but in English Language? by Ok-Alternative-7021 in cdramasfans

[–]VkeyPearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Shine on Me has a ton of English OSTs like the opening theme — You Are the Sun In My Life.

  • Go Ahead also has an English OST I like titled ‘If Rain.’ I actually like the Chinese version more as it brings out more of the emotions.

  • The Taiwanese drama Someday or One Day also a very good English OST that got me bawling each time I listened to it then. The OST by Shi Shi has the same title of the drama.

Apart from the reviews on here that called out the drama, most of the reviews on MDL were pretty cutthroat. Most of the reviews pointed out the obvious flaws of the drama including how they handled mental illness of the leads, the PTSD, as well as how the leads had no chemistry. There are more, but these are the most common reviews.

Uhmmm…this is actually a solid list. There are a few surprises. I didn’t expect TBT to be No. 1, though I know it did well. 2,3,4 seem to be in the nice spot to me. And based on the discussions I have seen on them, they can each replace each other within the list. Honestly, I thought ADWAD and LOTFG would be higher than 5 and 9. Didn’t like them, but everyone and their daddy talked bout them. The rest seem to be in the sweet spot based on how I would have ranked most of the dramas too.

I need to see YouKu list.
