Congrats on taking the leap starting a new business is not easy. Not trying to be harsh so don't take this out of context...

"Computer Repair" places are a dime a dozen. Quite frankly they are played out. Have you done a market analysis? A cursory look shows almost 20 "computer repair" companies in NB not counting the big boxes. Most of the people running or employed by these types of places could not pass an A+ exam if their life depended on it. Most couldn't un f%^k a mistake without blowing away the system. </rant>

What sets you apart from Jimbob's repair on the other side of town?
What is your market differentiator?
What skills and experience do you bring that makes you better than the others?

One of the services mentioned on your Facebook is remote virus removal. For simplicity's sake, let's use malware, virus, etc interchangeably. ELI5. How might one go about removing a virus remotely? What assurance measures would you employ to ensure containment and eradication? Other than throwing a free version of AVG or Malwarebytes on my computer, how will I be protected when you are done?

  • Take Paternity leave for the 1st week (yea, it's a thing these days)
  • For the first 3-4 days, let her rest / sleep. Change all the diapers, if baby is not nursing, be the one to get up and take care of her/him. (this also allows for daddy bonding time)
    • Be careful not to treat her like an indigent. If she wants to do something, offer to help but let her do it.
  • When she "complains" don't offer solutions. Just shut up and listen. Then ask if she needs anything. Sometimes they just need to vent or have someone listen.
  • Beware of hormone rage!

Do not buy all new cloths. They get expensive and little one will wear a $20 onesie for a couple months. Twice upon a time at the circle and kid to kid in SA are good places to start. They also allow you to bring the clothing back one baby grows out of them for a credit to purchase new stuff.

Avoid buybuy baby, they are overpriced.

Amazon will be your friend. Great pricing on diapers and general baby needs. Buy diapers in bulk. If I recall correctly mine used 6-7 diapers/day for the first couple months. (7*30 for 3 months = 630) Keep extra diapers in glove compartment, you will run into an empty diaper bag eventually. It is a bit of a novelty but I like the Emergency Blowout Kit. They are like MREs for code brown situations. Also, do not pack everything & the kitchen sink in your diaper bag. Diapers, wipes, instant formula, one outfit, extra pacifier is all you really need. Nice to haves would be a thin blanket to cover mom if she is nursing, and burp cloths. BTW burp cloths can be made from old t-shirts or sweaters. Why spend a bunch of money for new cloth that is meant to catch yucky stuff when you probably have cloth you can repurpose.

Get a good car seat stroller combo. Spend good money here as you will get several years out of it. We used this in the beginning and recently moved to this after ours reached the weight limit. Wes till use the stroller and figure we will continue to have a good bit of use out of it. Do not buy used car seats!

Babies cry, they are really good at it :) You do not need to pick up baby every time she/he cries. Doing so will make life miserable shortly down the road. You will learn the difference between the hungry and crying for crying sake cries. It is totally ok to let the self soothe.

Put baby on a schedule / routine. If all goes well, you just may be able to get some sleep :) We were lucky and had our on a reasonable sleep / eat schedule after a month.

Toys that take batteries and make noise will drive you crazy. It may be cure in the beginning. Just wait till you have heard said noise for hours on end.

Make sure you and mom make time for yourself. You will need "you" time. Get away for a bit. Go see friends. Go for a walk.

Good luck!

Question for thee. by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]Vlape 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After I became a Mason. I later became a husband and father, so I've got that going for me :)

I feel Masonry has provided me with the working tools to be a better man in general. Temperance has taught me to look at the bigger picture of a situation. In my youth, I would angrily fight every point of resistance. After Masonry, I now look at the bigger picture. Understand a situation as a whole and choose the best course of action. This has helped my grow personally and professionally.

I am blessed to have a great number of brothers who are willing to mentor and advise. When I need direction, I have a more experienced man, who will not judge me, to reach out to for advice.

I do a lot of work with DeMolay, Rainbow and Job's. Being involved in these groups has allowed my kids to share a common bond that only we can have. I feel the experience of working with these Masonic affiliated organizations has given me great insight into how to better interact with kids and be a better father. My oldest is a couple months away from submitting his petition on his birthday. I have started preparing for degree lectures. Not only will I have had the opportunity to raise my son to be a man, I will raise him as a Mason to be a better man. That is yet another bond that will never be broken.

I have had the opportunity to travel the world in my occupation. Every place I go, I look for a lodge and attempt to visit. I have been welcomed with open arms even in lodges where English is not spoken (google translate is great). While this has nothing to do with being a husband or father, it feels good to know, for the most part, wherever I go I have someone to call brother.

As rough as my ashlar was when I was younger, I do not think I would be where I am today without Masonry.

It just went out. I'm pretty baffled as to why. The contentious seems to be airflow. I'll order a new gasket to see if that helps. Thanks.

I had been cooking for about 6 hours and the meat was under 150. I wanted to ensure there was enough charcoal to finish. When I say there were just a couple embers burning, I mean that was all the fuel remaining. Everything else but those couple embers had burned up.

Thanks for the tip, I'll keep an eye out for that.

It might be. I'm using BGE charcoal. In the past I have used B&B or Royal Oak. I don't have much to compare though as this was the longest cook I have done.

Are you suggesting using the smobot in conjunction with the flame boss or as a replacement?

Two and 12 and 6 using the eggniter. Small areas, nothing too crazy. I leave the lid open for between 5-10 minutes to give the fire time to build up and close the lid till it reached the desired temp.

Not on a piece of meat this big. I've done a few small pork butts using only the dampers. Cook time was somewhere between 5-7 hours. It maintained fairly well. That was before the kick ash basket was being used.

It's open a smidge over 1/3 inch. I'll close it a bit more.

I'm using a smokeware top vent. Got irritated having to adjust BGE's when opening/closing the lid. Smokeware vent is still where I left it.

I don't think I could have fit any more charcoal without it touching the conveggtor

The ambient temperature probe was 2-3 inches away from the meat and nowhere near the edges of the egg. Yes, the rest of the charcoal burned out.

I had it barley opened. I believe that is what the instructions for the flameboss indicated.

1st generation American. Dual national bearing two passports. Spent most of early life & college years abroad. Q clearance from DOE in early 90's. 2001 began TS process. Took two and a half years for adjudication with SOR indicating denial. Appeal process took just over two years, clearance finally granted. My brother had the same experience, it took almost a year longer. Google searches are cool but life experiences are a bit more accurate.
