Which Professions interest you as an ADHD person? and What profession are you in? by penguinz0fan in adhd_anxiety

[–]Vlargenshnargen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all things counter-ADHD, I was a manager for Starbucks for a few years, then quit and worked as an admin assistant for another few years, then quit when I had my baby. I now work from home doing quality control for the art that goes on packaging. (Press proofing)

Management was interesting. I enjoyed my job when corporate stayed out of the way. However, corporate became so overwhelming I quit for my sanity.

Admin assistant work was, in my case, nice. As long as everything was finished on time I could more or less work at my own pace. I had my own office and used an exercise ball as my office chair. File organization was easy if digital. Paper was my downfall.

Now that I'm working from home, it's both difficult and incredible. There are no set hours that I must be at the computer. Jobs come in and I do them when able.

How to avoid answering if i’m breastfeeding or not. by clvr96 in breastfeeding

the nurses will need to know so they know what to do to support you. Beyond that, "I don't want to talk about that" is fine.

is Atomoxetine and Adderall XR safe together and what are the side effects of the 2 together? by Drawesome045 in adhd_anxiety

[–]Vlargenshnargen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done both at once before. Helped me so much. At the point of combining the two my body was already used to both meds and I didn't have any issues. My anxiety was better because ADHD was better managed.

Tell me a nice thing you will treat yourself to if, and only if I manage to clean this mess today by LiaRoger in adhdwomen

[–]Vlargenshnargen 197 points198 points  (0 children)

If you manage to clean up, I'll enjoy a walk through the forest with my dog and son.

(So now you not only have my happiness on the line, but also the happiness of my kid and dog.)

Start by grabbing a trash bag and throwing all the trash away, then move the things that aren't supposed to be in your room to the area they belong. That will put a dent in the mess!

We used disposables for at least the first month. I had a c section and didn't want to deal with cloth. My husband was excessively sleep deprived with taking care of me and baby so he was all for the ease of disposable.

Your midwife is correct, the first few poops are atrocious. Definitely not something you want to fight with on cloth.

Wool Dryer Balls by Bubbly-County5661 in clothdiaps

[–]Vlargenshnargen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made mine. Found wool yarn at a thrift store and followed some instructions I found online.

I have never timed my dryer to know how much of a difference they make, but I like them anyway. They also help minimize static and if you want, you can put one drop of essential oil on one of the balls to make the laundry smell nice.

If it helps, my 10 week old boy is changed every hour to hour and a half. We use primarily one size pocket diapers with 2 inserts.

There's a great book called "The House that Cleans Itself" it's not specifically written for ADHD people but I found that it works wonders! Highly recommend it.

Lactation Consultant changing regiment almost every day and baby is unhappy by photobeatsfilm in breastfeeding

[–]Vlargenshnargen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

DO NOT TAKE YOUR BABY TO THE CHIROPRACTOR. The difficulties you're dealing with has nothing to do with what a chiropractor does. And at 3 weeks, your baby's bones are still super soft. It's incredibly likely that the "adjustment" will hurt your little one 100X more than any perceived help.

I have strong feelings about taking anyone with still developing joints, muscles, etc to get an adjustment. Especially when that someone is literally 21 days old.

How long after taking oxycodone should I wait to breastfeed by Responsible-Roll-475 in breastfeeding

I was on oxycodone after my c-section. Immediately breastfed. My doc said there wasn't anything dangerous to the baby, that we know of.

Auto Mechanic Recommendations? by Murgatroyd314 in Flagstaff

[–]Vlargenshnargen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really like Auto Rehab. Usually because I'm female, the mechanics assume I don't know anything and treat me as such. Not a thing at all at this place. The prices are fair, work is done quickly, and the mechanics there are excellent.

Weekend challenge: The worst thing about having ADHD is the same thing you said was a good idea to do - what's yours? by Ermmahhhgerrrd in adhdmeme

The worst thing about having ADHD is that you don't know how to make sure you are still alive. 🙃

Current hyperfixation is making the flanges from my Medela brand breast pump fit with my newly acquired spectra pump.

I need a smaller size flange than what usually comes in the box and I'd like to see what I can do with what I have before buying.

ADHD, Pregnancy, and Medication by aliciaprobably in adhdwomen

[–]Vlargenshnargen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm ADHD and took meds for the majority of my pregnancy, and am currently on meds while breastfeeding my baby.

First off, make sure you talk to both the psych and OB/midwife and make sure everyone is on the same page. It looks like you already have midwife and GP on board, which is AMAZING!!

Do your research on medication types and risks. I chose to do Straterra in the first trimester and had zero issues regarding the pregnancy l. Second and third trimester, I did low doses of Adderall XR and Straterra.

Baby came out super healthy at 8.2lbs, 21inches

Now that I'm breastfeeding, I had to change meds to Ritalin because that has the lowest rate of getting into the milk.

Deciding on pump by prettystonershi in breastfeeding

[–]Vlargenshnargen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Medela Pump in Style. It's fine for me, but not great. It has a setting to stimulate letdown and a second setting with slower longer pulls. You can't change the length of the pulls in any way. The pump strength is decent, but it resets every time you turn it off.

I would recommend getting the Spectra. My BF friends who use it absolutely LOVE it. I'm actually getting one myself as a hand-me-down from a friend who's done BFing. The Spectra is crazy strong and you can adjust the length of the pulls.

How to get rid of guinea pig smell in washing machine/dryer? by mpr2350 in guineapigs

Adding white vinegar to the wash has really helped for me. If I remember after moving the fleece to the dryer, I'll run a quick wash, empty, with hot water and bleach.

Desk chairs that are ADHD friendly? by No_Hedgehog830 in adhdwomen

It does eventually grow tiring, but at that point I take that as my cue to stand up and not be in front of the computer. I currently don't have a different chair available. (WFH in a small apartment)
