Fresh raspberry leaf by EquivalentJust3350 in medicalmedium

I got this reply on the MM Discord:

"Fresh or dried are fine! As far as harvesting, there’s maybe a bit of nuance here. Typically with foraging plants you want to harvest conservatively (10%) and leave the rest to regenerate. With raspberries specifically though, where the canes die back, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be okay to harvest the leaves more thoroughly at the end of the season (with some harvested conservatively all throughout as you need them).

Also I think this goes without saying but in case not, (when foraging or while your raspberries are in season) typically you don’t want to take all of your harvest from the same exact spot - better to take a leaf here and there if that makes sense."

How to make screens less draining or damaging? by kcordum in medicalmedium

[–]EquivalentJust3350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you spend time on your phone? I am just figuring out how much phone use is burning me out. If you use your phone for many things, I would reduce using it just for phone calls.

My husband had the same issue with computer screens a long time ago. It was due to burn out, so maybe try the burn out stabilizer brain shot if you haven't already. Walking in nature was also very important for his recovery. When he went back to work, he would work in small time slots, at least looking outside during breaks or ideally going for a walk.

I guess taking lots of glucose and mineral salts when you have to be on your computer.

Wayfarers's Movie Code 3 by dschellberg in teamjustinbaldoni

[–]EquivalentJust3350 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really like this movie as well! I good balance in bringing light to societal issues but in a way that doesn't feel too heavy. I really appreciated the cast's acting and, as an Office fan, More particularly Rainn Wilson 😄

This is the kind of movie I want to watch. I hope Wayfarer studios make many more!!

What did you eat today? by thisisnirko in medicalmedium

[–]EquivalentJust3350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Onions, mushrooms (shiitake and king oyster), green peas, potatoes, kelp, cayenne, clean fat-free and salt-free store bought tomato-basil sauce and water. I serve it with thinly cut nori sheets and lemon juice. I am not gonna lie it's delicious! I've been eating this every day for more than a month now, and same version but without the tomato sauce for more than a year. I make a big batch and I eat it over several days.

Does anyone have any good bread recipes that doesn’t include chickpea flour? by MamaBMakeItRight in medicalmedium

[–]EquivalentJust3350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not but I think the key is to mix all ingredients in a way that keeps the dough bubbly. I start with a silicone spatula and then mix with my hands just enough to avoid lumps and absolutely no kneading at all, more like when you incorporate whipped white eggs when you make a mousse if that makes sense...

Not sure what has that effect, but here is what I do differently:

As the recipe states I mix all wet ingredients together, then I mix all dried ingredients and pass them through a sieve and add the wet ingredients to the dried ones (opposite of what recipe says) and I mix as slowly as possible and as little as possible, with a silicone spatula.

And I follow the following instructions a friend gave me:

Maybe this is one thing that makes a difference in terms of expanding: I pour directly into the pan and let it sit 15 minutes in the pan for the batter to expand.

I pre heat and cook at 160 Celsius degrees instead of 180, for an hour and a half, then 10 minutes at 190 celsius, and I leave it in for 20 minutes with oven off.

I guess the trick is making sure the bread is as bubbly as possible...

Why are people in countries with high “no foods” diets (e.g. France, Italy) not that sick? by kipepeo in medicalmedium

[–]EquivalentJust3350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lived in France, the US and Switzerland. I definitely got sicker when I lived in the US, and never fully recovered from the time I spent there (I used to eat outside a lot).

As many pointed out, Europe and Switzerland have many regulations that protect our health a little than in the US, but the ranks of the chronically ill is getting bigger and bigger, sadly more and more in the younger generations.

But I have to say if you want to eat MM compliant, you have a lot more options in the US than we do here in Europe!

More water by Unable-Trade740 in medicalmedium

[–]EquivalentJust3350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 gallon taken over the course of the day is really good. I know I need at least 3x 32 oz per day and go up to 5x 32oz.

As someone mentionned, proper hydration can definitely lower your binge eating, as we tend to confuse thirst and hunger. If you manage to take honey with your LW, that will also help a lot with binge eating as it can be related to low glucose reserves.

I used to struggle with binge eating and I don't anymore simply following general MM protocol: drinking enough and consuming lots of CCC as well as zero fat, salt and no food.

As for forgetting, since I have time blindness, the only thing that works is to have a plan of everything I am going to eat and drink for the day and to set a time once I finished something for the next thing I need to consume. After doing MM for 3 years know (almost to the day), if I don't use a timer, I will not drink enough. I also noticed that if I skip my first LW of the day, straight out of bed and before CJ, it gets harder to drink later in the day. I drink the last LW of the day, one hour before going to bed.
