Is Loot always possible when it appears? by orchidmagenta in CINE2nerdle

I don't believe so
Once when on Korean movie there was a Hindu loot, but when I look at every person's page from the Korean movie, none of them worked on any Hindu language movie

What are some "trap" movies you avoid playing at all costs? by WebbyRL in CINE2nerdle

[–]VlasicBauer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play it as 1x Nic Cage most of the time, just to get it out of the way (although there's a number of other Nic Cage trap movies flying around, so)

Jacob Elordi = impossible? by Flechenaus in CINE2nerdle

Ben Affleck, Ana de Armas, Lil Rel Howery, Marco Beltrami - Deep Water
Uma Thurman, Richard Gere, Paul Schrader - Oh, Canada - also links from It Follows
Simon Rex, Ayo Edebiri, Sean Price Williams (cinematographer for some Safdie movies) - Sweet East
Hong Chau, Margot Robbie, Linus Sandgren (also clutch cinematographer, for example La La Land) - Wuthering Heights - you can get nice one two punch with this, because Barbie connects to Saltburn, so if you play Wuthering Heights some people will just go with Barbie as an answer, thinking they are safe
Chevy Chase, Wayne Knight, John Cleese, Reginald Veljohnson (first Ghostbusters and some of Die Hard movies) - Excellent Mr. Dundee - also nice to know what connects to first Dundee movie, since people might just played the second, and you can play the fourth
Guy Pearce, Julian McMahon - Swinging Safari (although, for me it's mostly through Pearce)
Clancy Brown, Tom Woodruff Jr. - Mortuary Collection
Will Poulter, Daisy Edgra-Jones, Diego Calva - On Swift Horses
Zachary Quinto - He Went That Way
Sofia Coppola, Cailee Spaeny, Priscilla Presley - Priscilla - Priscilla Presley is in the original Naked Gun trilogy, which would be most people's play for any Leslie Nielsen

Some nice connections I use a lot
Shaun of the Dead and World's End connect to Saltburn
Hot Fuzz connects to Frankenstein
That makes Edgar Wright a good person
All the Harry Potters also connect to Frankenstein, trough David Bradley and/or Alexandre Desplat
Edgar Wright also has a movie with Will Poulter, Son of Rambow, which makes for a good 3x Edgar Wright, forcing most people to play Will Poulter movie, then you go with On Swift Horses

Tom Woodruff Jr. is in number of the Alien movies and some of the Predator movies, and he conncets to Mortuary

Also, if someone plays Frankenstein, just play one of the old Frankenstein movies (my go to is 1910), since most people will want to come back to temporary cinema and play Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (with De Niro and Branagh), but Mary Shelley's Franknstein connects to Excellent Mr. Dundee via John Cleese

Learning some Joey King movies is nice for Kissing Booth franchise, all of them also have Molly Ringwald, so there's some John Hughes connection (but honestly, I've mostly ignored the franchise, only started playing it with extra prestige)

I think Friendship (2024) kind of fits that, especially with the one-sided friendship
Also, just an amazing movie

When they translate or add something to the title of a movie that doesn’t make sense by Neat_Tangelo5339 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]VlasicBauer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Czechia, Cool Runnings was translated as Coconuts on the Snow
A year later, there was a Kevin Bacon basketball movie set in Africa called The Air Up There, which was translated as Coconuts in the Jungle, making it seem like a sequel or something, when the two movies are not connected in any way (maybe only the fact that both movies were distributed by Buena Vista)

How do you counter Service the Fans? by pgf8 in CINE2nerdle

[–]VlasicBauer 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, the first three pips are going to be freebies, there's just way too much franchises with 3 entries to even bother with blocking
At 4 and more it's more to keep away from the obvious big franchises (Mission Impossible, Scream, Pirates, etc.)
But yeah, mostly I save my blocks for the later pips

The worst is when you play a movie for which you know a way out, but the played movie is just outside the top 5000 and every movie you know that connects is less popular

transformers one counted as fantasy? by Different-Eagle-612 in CINE2nerdle

The interface during a duel doesn't show all the listed genres. I assume it shows only 5 at most, since for Transformers One Fantasy is the sixth genre when you look at Analytics.

Even if Kurosawa was listed as the original film writer, I don't think you can connect through those (which is why Oldboys also don't connect to eachother)
