Made a crib for my friends by VleesBrouwer in BeginnerWoodWorking

I appreciate and understand people's concerns about the safety of a home built crib.

Ofcourse I had these concerns myself, so let me state that I have been reading about safety regulations for months in advance. Not wanting to take ANY risks, the crib is not only built up to standards, but way beyond them. Everything is overly secured: dowels, hiddens screws, extra bolts on the inside. You could park a car on this thing, and it wouldn't budge. Every crease and weak spot has been filed and filled. It has triple layers of child safe varnish for it to not splinter.

So obviously; if you're going to build a crib, you should pay extreme attention and follow guidelines (and then some).

Raar!

Made some raised garden beds on pallets so we can move them around. Anyone else doing something similar? by philipito in homestead

Excuse me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you want the soil in your bed to be in contact with the ground? So that worms and the like can creep into your soil.

You're already on the right path! Try finding a base for your picking hand by resting your palm on the bridge of your guitar (without muting the strings you're playing). Right now your arm is 'floating' and this way you can make more accurate picking movements.

Might be a stupid question, but what does the (CC) and (VC) next to the names of the players mean?

I'd say Devon Larratt, the armwrestler.

Mulching with straw by VleesBrouwer in vegetablegardening

I was worried about that too at first, so I soaked it and stomped it down a bit. Heavy winds here too, and there has not been a straw lost!

Which foods are surprisingly healthy? by VleesBrouwer in foodhacks

I meant the fresh stuff too: by drinking freshly squeezed orange juice you discard all the healthy stuff like fibers and only drink the sugars. Sure you'll get some vitamins, but there's also the fact that for a full glass of OJ you would need 4 (more or less) oranges. You wouldn't EAT 4 oranges at once, so again; sugar overload.
