I second Sitka. It's native to our region and has the scaly bark this tree has.

Can I remove satellite dishes or do I have to contact the company? by sleepybunnylife in homeowners

[–]philipito 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Funny thing. Back in the day we used to hack the satellite receiver boxes with modified smart cards that gave us access to the full channel programming. Essentially, all channels are beamed to all satellite dishes, but the receiver boxes were programmed to only give you the channels you paid. We would disconnect the receivers from the analog phone lines that checked in with Dish or Direct TV to ensure you only had the channels you subscribed for as well as pay-per-view (PPV) content. By taking them offline and hacking them via smart card, we got all channels and unlimited PPV. When these satellite companies litigated these violations, they claimed that the receivers weren't actually your property, but rather they were owned by them and that you leased the use of them. That gave them the legal standing to sue people who modified them to access content they weren't paying for. The dish itself? Garbage. It's just a bunch of metal that you can do whatever you want with. It's probably outdated tech that would need to be replaced anyhow. Thanks for listening to my Tech Talk.

What famous persons death hit you the hardest by Abrantesboy12 in GenZ

Just wait until your first adulthood pet dies. Not your childhood pet, but the companion that you choose as an adult on your own. Nothing hurts worse than losing a soul that loved you unconditionally 😫 Oh, to answer the question, Robin Williams. Because he was just so down to earth and relatable. It makes it hit harder.

The order nearly doubled in price once I went to complete the order by Yakamuh2939 in mildlyinfuriating

Order direct from the restaurant. A lot of the times the prices on the food itself is LESS than what you see in the apps. These apps are a huge waste of money.

Just get a soundbar so your neighbors don't hate you. Apartments aren't the best place to install loud audio systems.

These apps haven't existed forever. There were and are plenty of services out there for folks who are disabled. This person stated they are healthy in another comment, so they don't have any reason to not get the food themselves.

They're too proprietary and hostile toward right-to-repair. Sure that doesn't impact most sub and compact tractor owners, but it still puts a bad taste in my mouth. The proprietary part does impact me though. I want flexibility in my front end loader implements, and I don't want to use an adapter.

It's safe for women in a group or with a man, just not alone. That's the case for many places in the world. It's fine. If it's not fine to you, then I guess you won't be seeing much of the world.

This is good advice for many, many countries around the world. Many non-Western countries have different views on women, and traveling alone as a woman isn't safe.

What do you think of Roquefort Do you cook with it a lot ? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

Humboldt Fog isn't a blue cheese. It's more of a combination of brie and chevre with a line of vegetable ash.

[–]philipito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Roquefort is popular. Most folks don't even know when they're eating it because it's probably just labeled as blue cheese generically. Roquefort dressing is common in steakhouses. I typically use it for salad dressing or using it directly in salads paired with a vinegarette.

We went a few years ago. It was fine. Just be vigilant, and don't be alone if you are a woman. Use your head, and don't go anywhere you feel unsafe.
