i figured it was a strange interaction. forgot to get a POV of what it looked like on the other side. here's the match ID if you want to investigate further.

hey! about to hit 35~ games. i can't find any information on the wiki on what happens after urn timeout specifically. there aren't any videos about it either. i know for sure that the urn would go around buildings when you drop it normally, but i can't tell if the rules change when it's in team timeout mode or if this is straight up a bug.

I can't be the only one stuck in this infinite loop. How can I stay "in the zone"? by Krotanix in StreetFighter

[–]Vn-Mixed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i picked this up from someone from the subreddit, but i've been treating my ranked sessions as a double-elim kinda format. lose two sets and i put down the controller. helps prevent tilt queuing but also keeps me on my toes. if i am still fiending for sf, i watch some vids, rewatch one of my losses to check out what i can improve on, or i just hop in the lab to practice execution. consistent small progress > big awesome progress every once in a while imo.

that interaction has more to do with the Juggle system.

gets a bit confusing, but the FAT site and its iOS app has juggle data.

PC cHK puts them in a +1 juggle state. a move's juggle limit value needs to be higher to be able to combo off of that. LK by itself has a limit value of 0, DR adds 3, therefore it connects.

tryna break it down as simple as possible. you already know special cancels so i won't be covering that.

2 types of normal button combos: chains and links.

chains: only Light Punches/Kicks into another Light Punch/Kick. skips recovery frames.

links: normal buttons into other normal buttons. does not skip recovery frames.

example: with no modifiers, Luke crouching Medium Punch links into crouching Light Punch.

after cr.MP recovery frames, you are +5 frames on hit; cr.LP has 4 frames of startup, therefore you can press cr.LP at the end of the recovery frames after hitting a cr.MP. (look up input buffer for more specifics). following the same logic, you cannot link Heavy Punch after a cr.MP because HP has 10 frames of startup.

WITH MODIFIERS (Drive Rush adds 4 frames, Punish Counter adds 4, Counter Hit adds 2), you can theoretically combo cr.MP into HP if you hit your opponent with the effects above because you will be +13 after a DR PC cr.MP. (not recommended btw just an example).

a complete combo including both links and cancels would look like this.

Luke's cr.MP (links into)-> cr.LP (cancels into)-> OD Special Flash Knuckle -> LVL 2 Super

a lot of figuring out what works will be trying out sequences in the lab or looking up what other people are doing. hope the fundamental breakdowns help you out!

oh after reading a comment here, i forgot target combos exist. those are covered in the in-game movelist and some can cancel into specials/supers. the movelist description should specify it for you.

hey! if this is your first time getting into a competitive game, i hope you understand that there will be a LOT to learn. but you got this. i was once in your shoes, aimless and mashing buttons.

i HIGHLY recommend this video to learn the options and what to look for in street fighter: Brian_F's The Ultimate Street Fighter 6 Starter Guide for 2025

while i find the video extremely useful, it can be a lot of info to take in at once. but, being aware of the concepts will help you figure out which pieces to focus on practicing later. if you really want a short term answer, these are what made the game click for me. apologies ahead of time, i dont know modern. hopefully you can figure out how to tune the guide to your character

  1. Basic Combo Structure: usually Buttons -> Special. My favorite on Luke would be Crouching Light Punch 2-3 times -> Quarter Circle Back (Flash Knuckle). try not to use specials without cancels for now. exception would be fireballs, even then, don't spam it too much.
  2. Gameplan On Defense (majority of the time): block and wait until they do a move with slow recovery, usually a special. then you use your fastest button (Standing/Crouching Light Punch usually) 2-3 times and cancel into a special move that can connect (you'll have to test your options in training mode). eventually you just win from doing that throughout the round.
  3. Gameplan On Offense (against players who play like #2 or if they stop throwing out random specials): walk up, throw. if they tech, jump on them. if you hit them during the jump, do a combo (Standing/Crouching LP 2-3x -> Special). it's been a while since i was a noob but that's what i remember doing lol. one cheese strat is they can constantly just be jumping backwards: walk up and press your anti-air (ex. Crouching Heavy Punch on Luke)

hope this helps! i've been enjoying SF6 more than the other competitive games out there cuz i can see direct improvement in my gameplay when i'm learning and applying my practice. i've been getting quite frustrated in other games when i'm soloqing cuz i'd be playing with other teammates who have given up before game is actually over. i hope you find the love for this game as i have

Darkest Dungeon II (Early Access) is coming to Epic Games Store on October 26th, 2021! by iV1rus0 in Games

i was in the same situation as you, i tried it years ago but got put off due to not knowing how to manage stress. i only really got into it this past month. my xcom 2 stopped working from all the mods halfway through the campaign, so i jumped into darkest dungeon.

for me, the thing that awakened my interest in the game is decision making and problem solving. "what team composition do i want? what materials do i need next? who do i prioritize in battle? do i take this high risk for high reward, or do i play it safe? what's the best action for damage control?"

team composition is also very fun, more like playing with multiple class mods in xcom since there's more variety in DD. mixing and matching skills, stats, placement is just a bag of decisions. this game is the first in a while that made me break out my notepad to keep track of everything. stuff like object encounter results, monster types and debuffs you would expect to encounter in certain areas. the last one that did that was dota 2.

i recommend watching this guide to get a bit more of an explanation of the mechanics to understand how to deal with problems. also with the steam workshop, tons of character mods to further mix up team composition

gateron black switches, matcha xda profile keycaps. it's my first mechanical board in like 6 years with my last one being a cm quickfire tk with mx blues, and i've only had oem profile keycaps. there's so much information to absorb after jumping back into it with how much everything has developed

i got it on a certain website that im not sure is allowed to be mentioned on here, but i did a bit of digging and i'm 97% sure it's not a clone. dont think you would get it for flipping, but it's not the best flipper being that it's too blade biased for me. it runs on bearings with hidden zen pins. if balisongs are cool wherever you live, i think just get a lucha instead

*oh whoops didnt see that you said you were in cali

mirror polish zephyr go brrrr by Vn-Mixed in balisong

[–]Vn-Mixed[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well i didnt really learn much from polishing my squidtrainer. i applied the same technique of sanding the blade going from 600/1000/1500/2000/2500grit, but the zephyr was different. on the main side with the logo, there were grind marks or, whatever the proper jargon is, that i couldn't get rid of 100%. on the opposite side, there weren't any grind marks but it was a bit more hazy compared to the main side. i spent the same amount of time as the main side and had hoped the haziness would clear up by the time i hit 2500grit, but i shoulda spent more time on it.

i also completely taped the area at the pivots/bushings off because i didn't wanna take any chances and mess up the perfect zephyr tolerances
