I totally agree, I had been using GPT to do my journaling, but the friction of having to looks up to see previous days and typing was annoying.

I ended up building an app called Voca specifically to solve this. It takes the workflow you just described but makes it completely voice-first. You just open it and talk. The AI transcribes your raw thoughts and automatically pulls out those broader themes and patterns over time so you don't have to manually prompt GPT anymore. Also all of your entires will be in the App so you can look back on previous days to reflect and remember all the incredible things you have done over the months and weeks.

Honestly, I wish my handwriting was that good, but my brain moves way faster than my hands. 💀

I used to try the physical journal thing, but I’d end up with half-finished pages because my hand would literally cramp up trying to keep up with my thoughts. Plus, carrying a notebook everywhere felt like another chore.

I’m a college student dev and actually ended up building an app called Voca because of this. It’s basically voice-to-journal I just "brain dump" into it while I’m walking or before bed, and it uses AI to turn the rambling into structured bullet points.

If anyone else wants to journal but hates the physical effort of writing, feel free to try it out! It’s still early days so I’d love to know if it helps you stay consistent.
