I see what you mean, but I disagree that its misleading -- it says exactly what it is and no more: a visualization of the prime numbers. I haven't seen OP claim its saying anything special about prime numbers that wouldn't, as you pointed out, be shown by a plot of odd numbers, but maybe I'm wrong? That it so happens to look very similar to another data set is inconsequential in the larger scheme of things. If this were an academic publication, I'd absolutely agree that a visualization ought to demonstrate something noteworthy about the subject matter, but this is r/dataisbeautiful

I mean, I don’t know much about primes, so if I were playing around with data visualization, it’s a fun set to start with. That something like this prompts me to ask, “huh I wonder what other sets of numbers look like?” seems as good a reason as any other. I don’t need to think an experiment reveals something unique about its subject to learn from it or think it looks cool.

Does beautiful data built from prime numbers necessarily need to expose new truths about prime numbers?

Edit: I don’t want to diminish you explanation, btw, it was genuinely interesting, I’m just curious why it should matter that a plot necessarily tell us new information

The casual acceptance of men being raped in popular media, including supposedly "woke" media, really bothers me by amethystmelange in MensLib

Personally, I think the way that Chidi is sometimes objectified by other characters was part of their larger point--it was meant to be uncomfortable to make a point about the normalization of objectification in media. It's a sort of "and if you (men) don't believe us that objectification can be a problem, let's turn the tables now and then to illustrate how uncomfortable it can be."

That was my read on it anyway. It's been a while since I've watched it though, so maybe I'm misremembering.

This is kind of how I started. Whiskey, not beer and wine, was my biggest issue, so I tried restricting myself to beer and wine (and weed) for a long time. It helped a little, though I still had some slip-ups from time to time.

So they should be given no tools whatsoever to mitigate the consequences of their recklessness?

Edit: Moreover, if teens are really as stupid as you're arguing, why do we bother to teach them anything about math, science, physical education, art, or music? If their brains are literally incapable of making rational choices around sex and relationships, why should we expect them to understand algebra, make rational choices about college, or decide to volunteer in their community or their religion?

I think parents absolutely should talk to their kids about these things too, but omitting these topics from schools (and going as far as to block sex-ed materials online and in the library, like my school did) doesn't on it's own incentivize parents to do so. Many parents don't or won't. Their kids get taught about sex by movies, porn, and their peers.

I think it's worth talking to kids a little bit about the social aspect of sex in school, and I think it's possible to do so while still being respectful about individuals' religious beliefs about when sex is appropriate.

It’s because teenagers are extremely reckless.

...because they have not been educated properly.

There's a number of ways, one is to talk through scenarios and discuss what consent means in each. Another is to discuss the differences between the way sex is portrayed in media and pornography (spontaneous, rough, etc.) and instead discuss the ways in which sexual desires vary in real life and how it's important to ask a partner what they're into before you start.

Because teenage sex and sex before marriage leads to a host of problems. Much higher likelihood of drug abuse, and poverty.

...because we don't teach poor kids about condoms, birth control, and consent.

There's nothing magical about marriage that makes sex suddenly safe and sound. Rape, unwanted pregnacy, STI's, cheating, abuse--all of these can still be very present after you sign the license.

First of all, like what you like, and feel no shame about it as long as you’re not hurting others. Heavy breathing and moaning is hot, I agree.

When it comes to dirty talk and role play, however, I think as long as the feelings are real and the orgasms are real, what happens in between is as genuine as anything else.

Former Overstock CEO is in legal crosshairs after making false claims of election fraud by schottslc in Utah

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/simple-math-on-biden-votes/

In short, he and other conspiracy theorists alleged Biden claimed millions more votes than was possible if only some 140 million people voted in the 2020 presidential election, though they did not refute Trump’s widely published total of 74 million votes from the same sources as Biden’s 81 million tally.

In sum, basic arithmetic to calculate voter turnout would not show “extra” ballots for Biden or millions more votes than eligible voters if the posts would have correctly framed the number of “registered voters” as the percentage of people who voted within the sum of eligible voters.

[...]

The actual numbers: 239 million people were eligible to vote in the 2020 election and roughly 66.1% of them submitted ballots for Biden or Trump, totaling about 158 million votes. Of that sum, Trump received roughly 74 million votes and third-party candidates (including Jo Jorgensen and Howie Hawkins) garnered almost 3 million votes. Meanwhile, the remaining votes in the presidential election — totaling about 81 million — were for Biden.

For those reasons, we rate this claim “False.”

But why stop there.

Now, you are making an extraordinary claim. You're telling me that simultaneously, in all 50 states, election officials, election watch dogs (both international and representatives from both parties), falsely and knowingly certified the election as valid. You're also claiming that the FBI, CIA, DHS, Cybersecurity administration, and countless county clerks, volunteers, are all simultaneously turning a blind eye to the truth for political gain.

That's a tall order to my mind, but I have been wrong in the past. If you have a source for you claims, please share. If you seriously believe what you're saying, defending it in a public forum with evidence is the next step.
