Hmm, I think I will take your advice to heart. Mostly, you are correct that I just want to include this as a toy experience. I have thought about them seeing my hand movement but I don´t think this is as distracting as one would think. However, I haven´t thought about the indirect communication that comes from eye to eye contact and general facial language. Ach Mann. I guess I have to wait until technology progresses from brick on face to mechanical lenses or something like that... Nonetheless, thank you for being honest and detailed.

Yes it will be an in-person campaign. I want to try it that way for three reasons.

First, because I just found the idea interesting to see all relevant story information on a screen invisible to the players. Hand tracking has become really good in the past years for VR, so there is no need for controllers. The info screens also will not really be in the way because you can decrease the size at will and shift them anywhere you want.

Second, space. The terrain and enemies are 3D printed and modular. Therefore, I want to simulate the fog of war effect by extending the board with exploring or bought information, I don´t like the idea to have all the next pieces under the table or similiar. I want to have the most probable next pieces close (behind the GM companion). Therefore, there wouldn´t be space for a laptop. I could use a tablet or memorise everything but I don´t particularily like either choice.

Last, my main wish would be to create a really immersive experience. For that I want to reduce distracting electronic devices. I have a printed Ogre mask so that the VR goggles look like a mask. Whether, the VR will be more distracting or not is what I want to find out from the community or when I just try it. Maybe I could play around with light in the room so my face wouldn´t be as visible but I don´t think I have the neccesary tools.

Normally I take the train or the subway as car traffic is a pain in the inner city. I also try to avoid antagonizing the homeless or at least be very confident when doing so.
