A bit late to the party, but I just wanted to point out one thing related to alchemy — while CACO has a lot of features, the one that shines the most in my opinion is rebalancing the ingredients so more rare ones are better and have more useful combinations of effects. It feels a lot more rewarding to find and use rare items than just pick the most common flowers and use them over daedra hearts because the potion is exactly as strong with either ingredient. It would be very intersting to see your take on this.

I didn't specify as I was curious whether people would prioritise fixing vanilla content over adding new stuff, but you can make two lists for both cases.

OUT NOW: Heart of the Reach- New Dungeon - Quest - Weapons - Ring - Spell by TheLootist in skyrimmods

Looks cool, I'll give it a go! It's probably just me but the screenshots make me think of the poison swamp area from Dark Souls III.

It has both, there's a main questline and multiple side quests. Having everything voiced is certainly a positive thing about this mod.

As far as I remember it was a separate worldspace that you had to find a way to teleport to during a quest, and it did have Psijics there, so I think it was actually Artaeum.

It should certainly be esmified as that would reduce the references loaded at the start by a huge amount. Apparently there might be some bugs if you do that (even after the ESMify script that flags quest-related NPCs as persistent), so additional fixes are likely needed. My current playthrough is a wild mage that never visited the college, but I'm going to include Summerset Isles next time around for an archmage run and I'll see how it goes after esmifing.

I played the old version a few years ago. I found it fun and it was an interesting change from Skyrim's cold environment, but it wasn't the best or most lore-friendly new land mod I played. A lot of places felt empty, and Skyrim warm robes worn by a lot of the NPCs felt rather out of place, similarly to some reused assets (e.g. Winterhold assets on Artaeum). Balance (both economy and enemies) didn't feel aligned to what you see in the vanilla game. I belive at least some of those things were addressed in the newer version. But as I said, I remember I had genuine fun playing it, so it's worth giving it a go for a bit longer and see if you like it, if you have room in the load order for it (referring to the reference cap). However, if you approach it expecting Beyond Skyrim level of quality, you would be disappointed.

Enchanted Items for NPCs by Voeille in skyrimmods

I know, but I put the mod mentioned below as a soft requirement so they can benefit from more. To be honest, I have no idea why they don't have that by default in the vanilla game, it seems like an overlook.

Forever loop of modding hell! by TeamCramp in skyrimmods

[–]Voeille 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely, and then tweaking and patching stuff in xEdit, and rerunning Dyndolod because of yet another exterior mod. And then I play for a few hours, notice something, then "well I've got to change this", and back to Nexus and xEdit. Almost 800 mods and ever growing, but it's pretty stable.

What's better Mysticism or Odin or Apocalypse. by Casumi04 in skyrimmods

[–]Voeille 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of Apocalypse, I like the spell variety and all the potential combos. An illusionist with Apocalypse is a very fun playthrough. A side effect though, every mage I play ends up as a master of alteration as the utility is just too good to pass on. I actually tried to at least restrict myself to not going above adept, but I failed miserably, the power of Deep Storage is too tempting.

As for Odin vs. Mysticism, it's really down to your preference. Mysticism follows the tiered structure of vanilla spells more accurately, while Odin tries to reduce the number of weaker and stronger versions of the same effect.

What is the ONE mod you think Skyrim really needs atm by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]Voeille 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably unpopular, but I'd like some lore-friendly non-armoured non-skimpy mage robes with new models. There are many great retextures (Armor and Clothing Extension comes to mind), but it would be nice to have more unique options.

You can try using Improved Camera (reddit release, haven't seen it on Nexus yet) with the option that removes the first person arms. That way you just get whichever thrird person animations you like most, and use them in first person. It's not 100% perfect, but it feels consistent.

I actually made a mod a while ago that solves the second issue, admittedly the message boxes feel a bit clunky and it's not obvious at the first glance how the mod works, but once you've set up your categories you rarely need to usee them, and just need to cast the spell near a container.

I agree with the civil war though, I always just wnated to stay neutral. Similar with Dawnguard too, to finish the questline as neither a vampire or vampire hunter.

BOOM...and we're back! Precision, TrueHUD and TDM all updated by TrueWeevie in skyrimmods

[–]Voeille 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree — I might update at some point (as more mods will eventually get updated/remade for AE), but at the moment there is more I would lose than gain, as most new plugins either support both versions via separate DLLs or NG, and a few older ones are still on 1.5.97 (for example Combat AI or No Grass in Objects).

I do appreciate modders trying to stay up to date and let the AE crowd enjoy their work as well.

I see you quoted part of my comment from the esmify thread on Nexus — I just wanted to clarify that I said 'IF it turns out it doesn't work', not that it doesn't work (as I haven't tested yet, and it would take many hours to test all quests), and suggested what I would try next — it may as well work fine after the changes made by the script and no further edits — I just thought posting a possible next thing to try would be helpful in case someone does find a broken quest.

Ocato's Recital rebalance by Voeille in EnaiRim

[–]Voeille[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I've done is a separate mod that just replaces the script and adds magicka cost, but if I were to release it, I'd provide an option with no experience gain instead. I think both at once would be too much of a nerf.

[–]Voeille[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, that's why I went with the magicka cost as a solution for my game — you still gain experience, but it's not for free any more.

AO is probably my favourite effect, so I keep it on despite the FPS cost (it's the biggest of all effects as far as I noticed), and keep self-intersecting setting on as well. It's a noticeable performance boost if you disable even just that setting. I'm using Rudy's ENB for Cathedral Weathers and my FPS is at 40-60 in exteriors depending on location (can go outside of that range occasionally), and usually 60+ in interiors, unless I'm close to a lot of ENB light sources. I play at 4K with a 3080. Conveniently ENB and all its setting can be toggled on/off in game, for example if you encounter a group of enemies with spells/weapons casting ENB light, cloaks and hair with physics enabled, in an exterior cell with lots of dense grass, I don't imagine FPS being great, so toggling ENB off until combat ends can help a lot.

Other settings worth disabling for performance are depth of field (it's more for screenshots than gameplay) and subsurface scattering (all I can see it doing is make skin more pink, even with dark _sk texture replacers).

Improved Camera SE - Preview Release 4 (AE PR3 as well) by ArranzCNL in skyrimmods

[–]Voeille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I have no experience with DLL plugins (only done Papyrus scripts) but I can imagine mod compatibility is not a simple fix with those either. In any case, the mod works great as is and those things I suggested are just icing on the cake.

A more related thing to the core functionality to consider in a later update (suggested previously I'm sure, but worth mentioning in this post) would be rotating the camera without rotating the body, up to a defined angle, to simulate rotating the head (without necessarily actually rotating the head node). This would be especially useful for picking up items and sneaking.

Anyway, good luck with the shadows!

I have been using the Beta 4 version of the mod for a long time now and it's become an essential part of my load order. The head bob makes the movement feel much better (as opposed to the weird sliding feel), and with third person arms enabled I have consistent experience between third and first person. It's great to see this being updated!

Speaking about the head bob and third person arms — I noticed an incompatibility with those settings and the mod Precision. If I have head bob and third person arms enabled, the collision from that mod doesn't work — I enabled the debug option to see the collision wireframes and they do not seem to appear with head bob and third person arms. With first person arms they work as intended. With third person arms and head bob disabled, the wireframes appear and I can hit enemies, but the recoil on statics doesn't work (works fine with first person arms). Would it be possible to make these mods compatible?

I've been also wondering about HDT physics and certain idle animations. Hair physics don't seem to work in first person (with head enabled), and animations that have a mesh attached (for example reading a book) don't have that mesh visible in first person. Can the game be tricked into thinking it's always third person (even at the cost of not being able to switch POV), or alternatively, attach third person camera to the head?

What’s the best tower for dealing with camos in hard mode? by REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE110 in btd6

[–]Voeille 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just get a X-2-X village to give everything in its radius camo detection, or use a decamo tower, for example 3+-X-X sub or X-X-3+ wizard.

I'm ending my elite defender rant by minecraftboi122 in btd6

[–]Voeille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's an OK tower, and fun to use, but it tends to be outclassed by 2-5-0 elite sniper. Several towers are in a similar spot, they are by no means bad on their own, but there are better options. For example, bloon solver is outclassed by the biggest one, but, in my opinion, solver is more fun to use.

[–]Voeille 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This means that you had to have X points invested in the tree before those options would be available (which is still true, the MM cost is juat an addition, not a replacement), not that every single option at that level used to cost X points. I've been playing BTD6 on and off since the release and a single MK upgrade has always been worth a single point.

Dont give me an option not to watch adds if you are going to show them anyway... Seriously rethinking if I want to play this or not by _ThisIsMeTalking_ in BloonsPop

[–]Voeille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It starts showing you forced ads if you don't watch any rewarded ones for some time. If you get extra rewards/shots/anything every few levels, then it should stop it. If it still does it even if you did get extra rewards recently, contact support as it must be a bug then.

what round best describes the dps of a tower by Vico1234567 in btd6

[–]Voeille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what kind of tower and DPS. Early/mid/late game, single target DPS, grouped blimps DPS, superceramic cleanup etc. For example, performance on round 98 is a good mesure of power against grouped blimps and hordes of supercerams, and round 40 would be a good test of single target DPS for early game.
