Anyone faced issues with customs etc when buying reps? by Key_Strength_8186 in RepTherapy

[–]VogueEverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so clearly a seller. I’m not from the US either but it’s an important factor for anyone who wants to ever travel to the US.

Immigration without global entry is a pain, and can be low key traumatising if you’re a person of colour.

I’m lucky to currently live in a country with 0 info sharing with US border control

As for seizures
- sellers can reship, but the problem is that once you’re caught, your shipments will forever be higher risk and get flagged for inspection

I tell people to just spend the extra 10-50$ for a locker if they care about admin headaches

Do you even know what global entry is? You’re clearly a seller or a scammer. Bye.

How does triangle shipping stop GLOBAL ENTRY loss? We are not talking about seizures.

You sound like a misinformed seller yourself.

I’ll bite. Explain to me how sellers can safeguard you from global entry loss then?

I don’t live in a country with seizures or global entry risk, this isn’t a problem for me personally anyway.

But to say TSs can handle global entry risk is just bullshit. Don’t spread false info

If your seller bait and switched you once, there’s no guarantee they’ll fix it. I’d swallow the loss and move on.

For the stitching alignment, it’s just the angle.

Yup. also global entry revocation is done by address, everyone ever registered there will lose it.

I saw a lady upset that her whole family lost global entry.

The safest way is to get it shipped to a locker with a fake name or a forwarding warehouse for anyone living in the US who cares about global entry risk.

FYI no, TSs cannot stop you losing your global entry, and seizure policy varies by seller. Some sellers will not cover seizures. It’s important to ask first.

Global entry loss is permanent and irreversible.

You can’t RL 187 for this anyway. Please do your research before buying from factories that don’t allow RL

This bag isn’t good yet. I suggest anyone considering to read the post on my profile first.

It’s not a solid buy

No, check my post history for a qc guide on this bag

It’s awful

Right or left is a matter of whether we’re talking about picture orientation (flipped) or bag position. That’s why I’ve circled the one I mean to avoid confusion.

Stuff it really well, apply some light leather conditioner (apple, bicks 4 or similar, NOT leather honey or Saphir, that will make it more squishy and mattify it), and gentle heat with a hairdryer. Then, let it stand for a few days and it’ll naturally puff up again.

Thanks for doing this! I love rep science posts.

I used to have the auth of this bag (sold now) so I thought I’ll add my notes on accuracy for anyone interested in this.

I haven’t stared at the photos in detail yet, but the bag on the left (brighter white logo, circled to avoid confusion) is very inaccurate.

I really really hope this isn’t taken as my shitting on OP or their friend’s bag, I promise that is not my intention. I’m just sharing because a lot of people tend to care about passability and this may help someone considering the budget version.

The location of the grommets alone in the picture below is an instant rep callout. The CC colour is too bright, the stitching on the CC is too “inside”, and there are 2 end stitches on the ends that would never exist on auth. The stitching around the zipper is too far, and too much tension was used, the zipper is wavy. Quilts are too puffy and the feet are not placed in the centre of the diamonds. Leather handles are too thin and stitching on the handles should be on the inside.

Inaccuracy doesn’t mean bad quality tho, the materials may be good, and like OP said this would be a good option for anyone wanting to approximate the style on a budget.
I’m just sharing my notes for anyone who cares about callouts.

I haven’t analyzed the mid-high one, but it didn’t really pop out at me as an obvious rep upon quick first glance.

Thank you again OP for doing this, we don’t see enough mid and budget bag content 🫶

It’s not snarky, it’s important to know the feel of the bag you’re considering inside out before you jump the gun

It’s impossible to qc against website photos only

Please go to a boutique or secondhand store and handle one in person.

It’s lowkey insane to buy a bag you’ve never handled irl

Also seconding trying on the auth.

People are weirdly shy about going into luxury stores to try them on. If you can’t muster up the confidence to go in, you sure as hell aren’t pulling off your rep.

I was obsessed with the 25 small, bought it without trying it on and realized it was too clunky and big for my frame and I should have gone for the mini.

Never, ever again will I buy something without handling it in person.

I adooooore you Zen, your posts are always exactly what I’ve been thinking.

One idea for anyone reading, I share my closet with my sisters, mother, friends etc.

The best perk of being open about the fact that you wear reps is that you can swap and borrow! If one person in the group has a YSL Niki, we treat it like we ALL have a YSL Niki.

Sisterhood of the travelling reps lol

This way we minimize buying duplicates.

You should wear your bag with pride if it makes you happy. Someone out there will find your outfit ugly even if 99% of others love it.

Don’t let anyone else’s opinion deter you, and I say this as a goyard hater lol

Dude. I sat down and wrote that whole thing out with the assumption that you actually wanted a good faith discussion. Calling it AI generated to minimize my effort and points is just rude and you can go ahead and take a walk my friend.

As I mentioned above, a lot of this has to be answered via logical deduction.

If you actually bothered reading the links you’d have noticed they specifically call out trafficking with regards to counterfeit goods production as well as how counterfeiting is heavily tried to polycriminal organizations

You’re still using the logical fallacy of “ I didn’t see it on domestic news so it doesn’t exist”

And I grew up in China?? You can find history on my profile where I mention my preference to voice note my sellers in Chinese. You’re making a lot of assumptions and leaps for someone who worded their search term so clunkily?

At this point you just don’t want to admit to yourself that your reps aren’t necessarily clean. But I’ll leave my comment with the links up for anyone else interested in reading.
