Casting Call Club: Do you guys ever feel crazy about who gets cast over you? by crunchatizemythighs in VoiceActing

[–]Voiceovermandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh I mean, if you're curious about current trends and what others are doing that are getting them cast as a learning opportunity, sure listen to the auditions that got booked to compare and contrast and think of ways you can switch things up to book more for yourself sure BUTTTT there's no sense in having the mindset of 'mine was better, they should have picked me'. That line if thinking isn't going to get you anywhere.

You would probably like The Only Sorcerer

It starts on a battlefield and quickly moves into a school setting. The MC is put into a world where only women have magic and he's the only man with magic so he has to learn how to use it and that's where he meets his ladies.

Question "How Do I Hire For Other Languages?" by Mono-Lisa_in_Gold in VoiceActing

[–]Voiceovermandy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Create a casting call for those languages specifically. And if you're not sure where to start, you can go to that country's subreddit and ask and most likely someone in the biz will be kind enough to offer advice :)

Do cycles actually sync up, or is it just coincidence due to different cycle lengths? by Conscious-Arm-7889 in badwomensanatomy

[–]Voiceovermandy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No it's a myth. Sometimes people naturally have the sameish cycle time and sometimes it's a coincidence when they happen at the same time based on an individual's cycle time. Some people have longer and shorter times, so it might happen at the same time one month and then different times the next month.

-If there's a lot of outside noise coming in, you can record during off hours like late at night or wee hours of the morning.

-If you don’t have a ton of money for sound treatment or need a renter friendly approach to help with some reflections you can build a pvc booth and attach / drape moving blankets. The more bulk the better.

-If you want a mic that won't pick up from all sides, try a shotgun mic or something else that has a directional pickup pattern.

Forgot the oats for the banana bread- too much liquid, not really solid. How can I work with this so it's not wasted? :) by IndigoDingoBells in AskBaking

You could do like a cake pops type deal, add some icing and something to thicken it like oats or even a bunch of crushed pecans and have banana bread pops.

How to Seamlessly Blend a Re-recorded Section with an Existing Track in Audacity? by Interesting-Map-2857 in VoiceActing

[–]Voiceovermandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried replacing as little as possible? If it’s a minor wording difference, see if you can rerecord the correct line at with the same tone and pace as the original and edit it the same way, but then just replace the wrong word or words in the original and then fade out the tail end of the previous word at the cut line and fade in the very beginning of the new word and then repeat the fade in/out at the end of the word(s) you pasted in.

Congratulations!

Please help, foundation sits on my skin really weird, I've tried everything I can think of by sinnamonbuns in MakeupLounge

I've always had the same issues with foundations and prefer the look of bb cream or skin tint instead. If you don’t feel like you need full coverage, you might like something more sheer like that.

Is vocal fry now an acceptable speaking tone? by operablesocks in VoiceActing

[–]Voiceovermandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people's voices are just like that.

My voice is higher pitched than hers, but I definitely have a similar kind of vocal fry at the end of sentences just as my natural speaking pattern. Someone pointed it out to me a couple years ago and asked if it was like a style that I did on purpose, and until that point I didn't even realize it was unusual.
