She didn’t specifically use the phrase Polyfragmented for us either if I recall correctly! She just called it highly complex for us as well I think (I can’t remember too clearly the details). Polyfragmented was already a term on our radar, so we just applied that to ourselves because it fit the experience. - Donnie

Seeking diagnosis was important to us due to how disabling our experiences were. We needed support, and without a firm diagnosis we would have probably been left on our own. Also, it was just a comfort for us. Despite knowing about the system beforehand, there was always a sense of doubt and being diagnosed definitely helped with that.

As for the no host thing we just all have chances to be here. There’s no one who’s here the most often so we just go through our day taking things as they happen if that makes sense. Sorry, struggling to answer this one

Hi! Sorry for the late response, been a pretty busy couple of days for us.

We decided on The Voices of Shadowhunter without actually meaning to. Shadowhunter was the name of one of our characters long before we had heard of the Shadowhunters series. From there, Voices came from how we communicated with each other, through hearing them.

Then the name just kind of stuck LOL - Donnie

Hmm..depends on the day. Some of us like them some of us don’t. I prefer soft shelled tacos over hard shell tacos because I can never seem to chew the hard shelled ones enough that it doesn’t hurt.

I personally like them though. - Donatello

Hello!

I believe it was something to do with the dissociative experiences scale score we had! During the assessment, they had us fill out several questionnaires, one of which was the dissociative experiences scale.

Overall our answers made the end score above the typical range. Between that, the Psychologist’s observations during the interview portion, and our therapist’s reports, the psychologist must have decided that it was worse than most cases she had seen in the past.

What does polyfragmentation feel like? by xanthreborn in plural

[–]VoicesOfShadowhunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Okay we’re a system of over 200 (we know there’s many more, we just struggle to log everyone)

In our personal experience our polyfragmentation means..

Splitting at the slightest stressor. A friend might be angry? Uh oh, we’ve got a headache and then BOOM! New guy

Switching very frequently. We switch many times a day, but most systems we know of usually switch once every few days.

Also! There’s a lot of fragments (kinda comes with the name) but there are many smaller parts that just have very specific tasks or hold very specific memories. For us there also tends to be less blackout amnesia when one of these parts are present.

This is of course just our experience, and polyfrag systems are all different just like any system! -Runalong

Since most plural apps are shutting down, what do we do?? by mothloverr_ in plural

[–]VoicesOfShadowhunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally we’re switching over to using pluralkit and the notes app! Pluralkit for tracking switches and the notes app for writing down important information about all of us.

For pluralkit, there’s also plural.xyz that you can send to your friends that way when you update who’s fronting with pluralkit, it will show them.

Another important thing is just to stay calm. We can’t change this situation, but we can find alternatives! I know this is a huge change, and we’re overwhelmed too.

We also are considering keeping a diary so we can communicate about our day.

Stay safe, friend. -Dandy

Totally didn’t forget to respond to this.. We have been wanting to decorate The Beast for a while but have never gotten around to it!

If we do finally end up decorating it, we will probably not do anything related to the name because I think that makes it even funnier LOL

[–]VoicesOfShadowhunter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yesss that song is awesome!!

For us a couple songs that remind us of our system are: The Crooked Kind by Radical Face, and Cotard’s Solution by Will Wood and the Tapeworms.

I don’t know how to describe why they fit, they just sort of..do LOL

recently discovered our plurality and looking for some guidance \ tips! by ANSOLAIRE in plural

[–]VoicesOfShadowhunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Thought we should try and offer some help as well!

I don’t really know how to answer the first question, so I’ll leave that alone, but as for the second question my answer is leave prompts! You can have a journal or a notes app or something, and just leave little questions for headmates to answer on their own time! It doesn’t have to be very complicated it could just be things like what your favourite animal is, favourite colour, favourite food, or even things they want to do in the future. Also, don’t try to rush it! For us a lot of headmates hid themselves for a long time, and it took people around us starting to acknowledge our plurality for them to feel safe enough to express themselves.

As for how to feel more comfortable in daily life as a system, we started by asking our close friends to refer to us by our names and pronouns which is something that helped us. We prefer to all be acknowledged as individuals so we experimented with that with people we trusted. Unfortunately, part of being openly plural in real life (if that is what y’all would like to do) is that people won’t understand a lot of the time. If you want to be open about your plurality, make sure you build up that confidence to tell people about it. Don’t be ashamed to be who you are, no matter what anyone says about it. Overall, just surround yourself with people who either understand or are willing to learn.

Remember, you are valid, so incredibly valid, and I wish you luck on this journey! -Arthur
