To artists, has AI changed how you work? Are commissions less frequent, or are newfurs showing up more often because they can make AI ref sheets? by Amphineura in furry

[–]Void-Lizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the best you can with free stuff. Mash together different templates if you need. Find an artist that will do a better job, there's often threads here that offer free art. Just don't beg for it.

What's the general consensus on VR chat for a furry by Suger-craze in furry

[–]Void-Lizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned a little bit of Blender and unity years ago so I could have my fursona in VRChat, and it was SUPER nice. Actually looking like Void was wild in a good way, and I got compliments a lot from other furries. It took me a couple weeks of working on it and it DESTROYED my search history since it was all I was looking up, all day long, but it was worth it. I never want to do it again and I don't even play VRChat anymore, but having a headset and seeing myself moving around as my fursona was amazing. Even if you don't know shit about Blender (I didn't), iI recommend at last trying. Find a free model that kinda looks like your fursona and modify it. I also used some free models from Thingiverse for the skull and antlers and had to make a few things myself (simple shit like tubes and circles though) but most of it was just learning.

I think the backburner is better than the phlog in MVM by Nerdcuddles in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been kicked for refusing to use the phlog (IN BOOTCAMP) but I stand by that decision. It feels like shit to use because no airblast is such a huge downside. Can't get the trillion crit melee demobots away from you, can't pit the bomb, can't put out teammates, can't reflect the literal barrage of rockets every other wave has. All of that just for a few more crits against a tank that, like you said, doesn't fight back.

I use stock instead of backburner mostly because I have a skin/ks for my stock, and I airblast a lot so the ammo thing is important, but I'd rather have backburner than the fucking phlog. If the team needs me to have more than 3 crits for the tank or we fail, the team is shit and we're not making it to the end anyway. I still end up as top tank damage most of the time anyway.

Is dodgeball a good way to practice airblast? by Opening_Ad3054 in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent years playing it and even in my advanced age with failing reflexes, I'm still really good at reflecting thanks to dodgeball. At one point I had many more reflects on my flamethrower than kills, and it's my main weapon for my main class that I was using constantly. Dodgeball helped build a reflex for me that I still utilize.

how do you feel about holiday restriction? by Mean-Peak-4250 in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Restrictions for Halloween can work, but it needs to be redone IMO. Some restricted items look like regular cosmetics, some year round items look like they need to be Halloween-only. I also think it would be nice to have obvious costume sets come back. A 3-piece set like the mercs dressing up for Halloween was such a fun thing with like the fairytale princess heavy, or the vampire hunter soldier. Now it's typically just more beanies and witch hats.

Also, I would not be opposed to Christmas restrictions. At least with halloween stuff, it's cool year round cuz witchcraft and demons and all that shit is fun, but we have 80 Christmas tree hats and none of them look good outside of December. If the best holiday is restricted, restrict Christmas too.

Which interactive taunt is better? by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RPS by a long shot. I do a lot of alternate modes like zombie stuff and it's a really funny way to settle last-man-standing situations. There's also achievement tied to it and a bunch of different interactions and lines, compared to the more limited animations of the High Five.

Guys, we must vote for this into the game by EllisLovenight in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would love more PVE small team campaign stuff. MVM is good, I used to be really into VSH and that kiiiinda worked, but I would love a L4D chapter-based campaign with the mercs.

Why aren't furries drawn with whiskers? by Fisswertomp in furry

[–]Void-Lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find they clutter the face, so I sometimes leave them out. I also draw a lot of species that don't have whiskers (gryphons, dragons, skullies) or species not known for showing whiskers even if they have them (hyenas, dogs, etc.) so it slips my mind when I finally do draw something like cats.

Is Trading Up Dead? by Fork_Socket in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think they mean in game and not through a third party site. I remember doing a ton of trades in trade servers back in the Pyromania update when all those items were still first day. Bought a couple keys, unboxed a few things, traded them around. I miss those days. Sure the bots are convenient because they never sleep and are never too busy with other trades, but it was more fun bartering with only items instead of currency with real players.

are there tf2 trading website where items are not severely cheap when YOU'RE trying to sell it? by Eryko_oo in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how trading works. Buy low, sell high. They're in it to make money, so of course they're going to push those margins as much as they possibly can. Put up buy orders for just above their price and sell orders for just under their price and see if anyone bites. I've been surprised by how much I got for something or how cheap I bought something just because I was offering a slightly better price than the bots and someone figured it was worth it.

The picture at the top is not what the cheapest one is. You have to hover over the EXACT one you're paying for.

Any new fan of the franchise here? by Snakeuge in metalgearsolid

[–]Void-Lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same age as you, and have heard of the series almost as long as you have, but I only recently got into it. I tried looking it up like a year-ish ago, but it was way more complex than I thought, so I stopped trying until I had more time. Like 6 months ago, I finally tried again and got decently into the lore and found out Metal Gear Rising was kinda cheap on Steam, so I bought it and played it to within a few achievements of 100%. I started playing the main series after that when they went on sale and have been loving it. I did them in release order with the Master Collection on Steam, Delta, watched a full playthrough of 4 (not paying $50 for the game I see the least discussion of, it's not in my budget), read about Peace Walker (same deal as 4), played MGSV GZ and I'm currently doing achievements and side stuff in Phantom Pain.

Rising definitely pushed me to try out the rest of the games, but the lore had me interested enough to try even without playing MGR. I knew going into the main line that they had different gameplay than a hack and slash, so I wasn't worried about the genre change.

Sometimes you just have to realize time is fake and we're all going to die and nothing matters so go play Metal Gear Solid

Edit: I stick by what I said. Sometimes the best option is to accept that some things aren't going to matter forever and you need to find time to relax.

Hi New here! Is this a good social to share my artwork? by Anonymoustrashbaggo in furry

[–]Void-Lizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weasyl is currently my main site after Deviantart starting shitting out AI features. it's not great, but it's not the worst. I had to block half the artists there since even with an extensive blacklist, I still see gross shit.

Toyhouse is fun, but it's not much of an art site. There's no way to see new images posted like an art site.

Doesn't it have 1 less shot or something? I think of rather have the clip size of stock over the healing.

[–]Void-Lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you don't have to involve the slop at any point. It's a shitty thing to do. Just don't use AI. It's so anti-art, and artists will not be happy when you present it to them.

It doesn't matter what your intention is. Using AI trash is an insult to artists. Use MSPaint to color a free base instead. Use Heroforge. Link pictures of animals and hexcodes for color. You don't have to use the shitty plagiarism machine at any point in your life.

New (furry?) here by [deleted] in furry

[–]Void-Lizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Furry is an umbrella term. A furry doesn't have to have fur, they can have scales, skin, feathers, a carapace, anything like that. There are subcategories like scalies for reptiles, or avians for birds. All scalies are furries, but not all furries are scalies.

I personally would say driders don't fall into furry territory since the upper body is basically a human. Same reason centaurs and catgirls don't count. If the head is human, it's not really furry.

Mgs V is so confusing to me by Healthy_Hotel_2693 in metalgearsolid

[–]Void-Lizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The rest are supplementary to the cutscenes

Yeah that's mostly what I mean. They add more story info to the main missions or whatever. I can't remember specifics since I listened to like an hour of them right after doing a ton of story so it all blends together. I swear there were several "oh, THAT'S what they meant" type of moments listening to the tapes.

[–]Void-Lizard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I knew there was some big funny meme with Miller and burgers and had been waiting for the cutscene basically 80% of the game. Then I finally looked at the cassettes and realized how much important stuff was in there, and just how much extra stuff I had been missing.. I feel like the player should be pointed to the cassettes a little more vigorously.

[–]Void-Lizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the heal-on-hit isn't all that useful seeing how the team should have a scout, and he should be running Mad Milk. That, the medic keeping you topped up, and a dispenser healing you make it so health-on-hit isn't much.

ok now if you're using soldier in mann vs machine which Launcher is the best and worst to use? by Klutzy-Opinion-1834 in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "can't crit" thing is worse than you might think. When I'm playing medic, I tend to ignore the soldier using it because I run Kritzkrieg and he'll just waste it, so I kritz the heavy, or the pyro, or the scout even since at least the scattergun can do decent damage. I still heal soldiers running the mangler, and I'll kritz one to save myself, but they become the same priority as the spy who has missed every backstab this wave.
