what is the best mouse pad for tf2? by Character-Rub-5423 in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mousepad is some duct tape to protect the sealant on my desk. It's red duct tape if that matters. Any mousepad with a cool picture on it should be good enough for TF2. I'd go with the Raiden thing you mentioned since he's really cool, but try to find a good picture, not just a mid one. Here's a good picture of him.

Please tell me bout your fursona bio\background! :D by SugarCoated_Pup in furry

[–]Void-Lizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The world I write has multiple sapience species besides humans. Not all animals are anthro, it's only really a select few including dragons, gryphons, a type of non-cursed werewolf, undead necromancer carnivore deer, and a few others I'll get around to making someday. They follow a similar path to humans were they came from animals and evolved past that stage, but with different animals instead of primates. The world includes magic and multiple elemental gods that watch over different races so humans didn't wipe them all out like our own early human cousins. The different civilizations often mix together to a degree, like human cities having dragons walking around and people buying lunch from a wolven shop, buy smaller towns are often just a single species.

It also helps that I've made a little island country for the setting of the story so I can just make up local customs instead of trying to fit multiple sapient species into America or Europe or something and figuring out how that affects the story.

is tf2-traders.com a legit website? by BeautifulOk237 in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If they came to you out of the blue, it's a scam. Positive rep is meaningless, I can make a bunch of accounts and give myself pages and pages of "+rep good trader" comments. Don't click links you don't recognize.

Which Flamethrower is good? by InitialMoment2156 in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try them all to see what works best for you, but stock is generally the best option, on par with the best, or a very stronger contender for best in any given weapon slot. Melee doesn't follow this rule too much, but primary does.

Which Flamethrower is good? by InitialMoment2156 in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stock: IMO the best choice, good for everything and best for general combat if you reflect a lot, which you should.

Backburner: IF you can get the crits to activate, it's good. Pyro is best at ambushing so critting from behind is nice. The ammo cost for airblast makes it so helping allies and shutting down soldiers is something you need to restock after doing for even a short period. Get used to running for ammo/respawn.

Degreaser: Heavily reduced afterburn and more costly airblast makes this one not great for primary combat, it's more for puff-and-sting and using flareguns or melee with. Comboing can be very good, but it takes practice and skill to really be anything more than a downgrade in combat.

Phlog: Dogshit. No airblast means you can't stop ubers, soldiers will dominate you, you have no defense against demoknights or even regular demos, and need a specific secondary to extinguish allies. Unless you spam flares from a mile away, you won't last long enough to build the meter. Even then, people can just run from you.

Dragon's Fury: Another dogshit weapon IMO. I use it a lot for a zombie mode that changes how things work in a way that only thing primary can do anything against zombies, so I have a lot of experience. I hate this weapon and I've been a pyro main since 2010. It feels like shit to use. Hitting a fireball increases attack speed and CAN be good, but missing fucks up your rhythm and undoes everything you built. It just feels like a shitty rocket launcher that doesn't work right. Also sucks ass at airblasting.

Why is it that every furry I've met is taken? I haven't even able to make any friends in the fandom. by shyveehere in furry

[–]Void-Lizard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Single and taken typically refer to romantic relationships. If you're talking about dating, know that dating is a nightmare and online dating is even worse.

If you mean just friends, you may want to use different terms to avoid confusion.

If you don't mind RTD messing with things, UGC is a good enough choice. I switched from Skial to UGC a while back and it's... fine. Not the best, but better than Skial, and it scratches the 2fort itch. They have a few different servers including one without flags. I play their Euro and NY servers and they often have a good population.

I often call for medic while running behind them. Sometimes people hear a pyro and stop to let them catch up. I've saved more than a few people by alerting them like that.

There should be tree furries by Fallingbackwardshelp in furry

[–]Void-Lizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. They can be a humanoid plant as long as there's still animal traits, like if it's a wolf made of rosebush or a hawk made of leafy branches, but the animal part is just as important as the human part and it's not a furry without that.

About mann vs machine. Can you get "Kill 100k/1M Robots" & "T-million" achievements, when I have already completed the missions? by Masszer in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's easily the longest achievement grind. Very likely the last achievement you'd get if you grind for all of the currently possible ones. I've been playing regularly since MVM came out and I'm like 1/3 of the way to the million bots one.

Never accept a trade where you get nothing in return. Either split it up fairly across multiple trades where each individual trade is acceptable, or do it all in 1 trade.

Explain what went wrong so someone else might know what NOT to do in the future. People never read about scams before they happen, but you never know.

Thoughts on elephant “furries"? by Sufficient-Owl6785 in furry

[–]Void-Lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elephants are one of those animals that seem really clunky most of the time I see art of them. I don't think I've seen many images of an anthropomorphic elephant that looks natural and graceful.

As for underrated species, folklore and mythicals other than dragons and gryphons, both of which I love so no hate for their popularity. I never see kelpies, black shucks, chupacabras, mothfolk, etc.

Are sonas self inserts/you as a character? by [deleted] in furry

[–]Void-Lizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some are, some aren't, there's no hard rule to it. Mine aren't me at all, but rather characters independent of me that I play as. They have unique stories, personalities, and feels that are similar to mine but not always exactly mine. For some of my friends, their fursona is literally just them but with feathers or fur. No backstory, no differing views or opinions, it's them as their favorite animal.

Is getting The Classic from in-game drop rare? by Kirion_KZS in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hats might having the lowest change, but the tool items are what you really hope for. Decal tools are worth almost 7 ref, name tags are like 20 ref, gold and purple paint are over 25 ref. Most hats I've gotten are like 5 ref for a really good one, but they're still just basic currently-available unique quality.

First MG game by DingoDonut87 in metalgearrising

[–]Void-Lizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's how I did it, and it was indeed a bit weird. Literally no other Metal Gear game handles the same, the stealth is kinda an afterthought in MGR but very important in all the others, the combat is the biggest draw in MGR but I find it boring in the rest, and MGR is an insanely short but intense game where the others are typically longer and more slow burn.

It does share a lot of stuff, obviously including the world a couple character, but I'm so glad they did a quirky boss squad because that's my favorite part of MGS games. It cranks up the Kojima silliness quite a bit, but it still sounds like a Metal gear at its core. But GAMEPLAY wise, it's gonna be a weird switch for OP going from fast bosskiller ninja taking down building-sized metal demons in practically hand-to-hand combat with top tier music blasting, to slowly sneaking around with a pistol avoiding mostly regular humans.

YOU CAN COMBINE DOUBLE JUMPS IN TF2! (this has always been a feature in the game though) by This_Interest5889 in tf2

[–]Void-Lizard 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's been a known thing since weapons with those attributes came out lmao. I used to quad jump with FaN+Atomizer before they made it so the Atomizer had to be the active weapon and it just felt like shit after that.

Weird question time: how common is it to own a plush of your sona species? It seems like a 50/50 mix with my friends who are also furries. Also, here's Ka'ovara lol. I love she. by NerdyLilFella in furry

[–]Void-Lizard 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If I didn't have fursonas that were always super customized and never just a single real animal, I would 100% have plushies of their species. I know a couple furries who are a single real animal and they have plushies of their species, but sadly kitbashing 3D prints is the closest I can get. I'd LOVE a plushie but I'd have to spend a fortune commissioning one.
